Certified green building loan
Borrow to buy, build or renovate a certified green commercial building, or one you plan to certify, for your Canadian business.
Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.
BDC lends your business money for a building purchase, new construction or renovation, and you repay the loan with interest.
Depending on your project, financing can cover up to 100% of project costs, including expenses such as moving costs and down payments. Real estate purchases may still require a down payment. Your offer can allow interest-only payments for up to the first 36 months, followed by repayment of the borrowed money, with up to 25 years to repay the loan. Payments can be matched to your cash flow cycle. Early repayment options depend on the product and your loan agreement.
A lower interest rate is available subject to loan approval, with the reduction applied when the green certification is issued. An approved offer may also include free sessions with a consultant specialising in green certifications.
Eligibility
Your business must be based in Canada, registered and active there, have generated revenue for at least 24 months, be profitable and have a good credit history. Owners and shareholders must have reached the age of majority. BDC also assesses your ability to repay and your business plan, financial projections and objectives.
You must intend to use the loan to acquire, build or renovate a building to obtain environmental certification. Accepted certifications include LEED at Silver or above, Zero Carbon Building, Zero Energy Certification, BOMA BEST at Silver or above, and ENERGY STAR. If the building is already certified, its certification must have been issued within the last 24 months.
BDC excludes businesses that organise, produce, advertise, sell or distribute intensely violent adult or unrated content; incite hatred or cruelty; discriminate based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, or mental or physical disability; participate in, support or directly or indirectly promote human rights abuse; or organise or perpetrate violent or cruel behaviour. It also excludes sexually exploitative businesses, such as escort services, brothels, erotic massage parlours, strip clubs, swingers’ clubs and motels renting rooms by the hour; and businesses producing, advertising, selling or distributing pornographic or sexually explicit adult or unrated content.
Its excluded activities and industries also include charitable, religious and fraternal organisations; unions, political, lobbying and advocacy organisations; government ownership; private schools; medical and personal care, nursing and rehabilitation centres; market speculation; residential properties; cannabis and related products or services; virtual currency and non-fungible tokens; financial services or similar activities; bars, lounges or similar establishments; and gambling operations.
