Home energy improvement loan
Borrow for insulation, new windows, heating upgrades or solar panels in a home you own, with at least 90% of the loan reserved for approved energy improvements.

The loan can pay for insulation of walls, the roof, foundations, ceilings and floors; replacement windows and doors; a heat pump, district heating or ground-source heating; solar panels; energy-saving lighting; and intelligent batteries.
You can borrow up to DKK 500,000 for up to ten years. Interest is variable, so the cost can change. You repay the money with interest. The bank charges no setup fee for this product, but public charges can still form part of the borrowing cost.
The price sheet effective 2 September 2026 applies only to former Arbejdernes Landsbank customers, now within AL Sydbank. Its DKK 250,000 example lists nominal annual interest of 2.50–3.70% and annual percentage costs before tax of 3.0–4.2%, including DKK 5,025 in setup costs. These are the published example figures, rather than a personal offer.
Eligibility
- You must own a house, condominium or holiday home.
- The bank reviews your finances and arranges a valuation of the home. The loan requires a mortgage over your property as security.
- At least 90% of the loan must fund approved energy improvements.
Unless your agreement states otherwise, the general private-credit terms allow you to repay at any time without notice. For agreements lasting more than three months, repayment reduces the interest and costs attributable to the remaining term. Extra repayments reduce the debt and cannot subsequently be withdrawn.
Under those general terms, taking up permanent residence abroad can allow the bank to demand immediate repayment. If the mortgaged property loses substantial value, the bank can require debt reduction or additional security; this does not apply to your permanent home unless the loss is due to neglect. Selling the security without the bank’s prior consent is treated as default.
