Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme
Australian households and small businesses can lower the cost of an eligible small-scale renewable-energy installation by selling certificates or assigning them to an agent for a possible upfront discount.

Eligible systems include rooftop solar, solar batteries, small wind and hydro systems, solar water heaters and air-source heat pumps.
A small-scale technology certificate represents one megawatt-hour of renewable electricity generated, stored or displaced. For systems that generate or displace electricity, the calculation uses the amount in megawatt-hours. A solar battery's usable capacity is a separate calculation factor. Location and installation date also affect the number of certificates.
Eligibility
The scheme is for individuals and small businesses installing an eligible system at a home or business in Australia. Systems and components must meet the applicable capacity, product, installation and accreditation requirements.

Use an eligible installer and either create and sell the small-scale technology certificates yourself or assign that right to a registered agent. An agent may provide an upfront discount or a later cash payment.
