RENOINN agrivoltaic and storage grant
Grants for public and private legal entities installing solar panels and energy storage on agricultural land in Spain while keeping farming as the main use.
Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.
RENOINN programme 1 funds solar electricity generation combined with agriculture on the same land. Panels can alternate with crop rows or stand above crops, with clearance of 2–4 metres or more than 4 metres. Installations can serve your own electricity needs, sell electricity, connect to the grid or operate off-grid.
The grant uses fixed amounts per unit of installed generation and storage, rather than a single percentage of the project bill. For total generation capacity above 100 and up to 1,000 kWp, the maximum generation amounts are €800/kWp for panels between crop rows, €950/kWp for structures 2–4 metres above crops, and €1,100/kWp for higher structures. Above 1,000 kWp, these maxima are €600, €750 and €900/kWp respectively. kWp means the panels’ rated peak generating capacity. A grouped application uses its combined capacity to select the maximum.
You request a generation amount no higher than the relevant maximum. That amount is multiplied by installed kWp, then the storage contribution is added. These storage amounts apply only to eligible electrochemical storage, such as batteries. Maximum storage amounts are €170/kWh up to 10 kWh, €150/kWh above 10 and up to 100 kWh, €100/kWh above 100 and up to 5,000 kWh, and €40/kWh above 5,000 kWh. The grant cannot exceed eligible expenditure or €30 million per company and investment project. Definitive payment follows verification of the completed work and eligible costs.
Eligibility
- You must be a legally constituted, registered public or private legal entity. Groups of these entities can apply without a separate legal personality. Spain’s central State administration is excluded. You must satisfy statutory grant conditions, be up to date with taxes and social security, and meet applicable commercial payment deadlines. Companies in difficulty under EU state-aid rules are excluded, as are applicants with relevant final environmental criminal convictions in the preceding five years or final sanctions for very serious environmental breaches in the preceding three years.
- The project must be in Spain. Foreign companies may apply subject to the same rules, including Spanish tax identification and applicable AEAT business-register requirements. Spanish legal entities with foreign shareholders can also apply.
- Use land originally intended for agriculture, with farming as the primary activity. An existing crop is not required at application, but the land must be rural agricultural land and you must establish the agricultural use and a binding arrangement for it. A solar-only area beside an agriculture-only area does not qualify. If the developer does not farm, a binding agreement with the farmer must define how farming and generation will coexist.
- One installation must exceed 200 kWp. Alternatively, group installations each exceeding 15 kWp to reach at least 200 kW in total. They must have the same beneficiary, enter the same subprogramme and each meet its technical requirements.
- The combined rated power of the inverters, which convert the panels’ electricity for use, must not exceed the panels’ peak generating capacity.
- The panels’ projected area on the ground must be below 40% of the total project area. This may be relaxed up to 80% for panels above crops with at least 25% transparency. Structures, storage, transformer huts and access roads must not remove more than 10% of the project area from cultivation, and farming operations must remain possible.
- Include at least 0.5 kWh of storage per kW of generation. Capacity above 5 kWh/kW can be installed, but the excess receives no aid. Lead-acid storage is excluded. Storage must have at least a five-year warranty retaining at least 70% charge/discharge capacity and technical support in the EU. Storage must also comply with EU data-protection and cybersecurity rules. At least 75% of its annual energy must come from directly connected renewable generation.
- Register the aid application before starting the project. Publication of a public tender or a private entity’s first binding equipment commitment that makes the investment irreversible counts as starting work. Permit preparation and feasibility studies may take place earlier.
- Respect the requirement to cause no significant environmental harm, known as DNSH. This includes complying with applicable environmental assessments and preparing at least 70% by weight of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste for reuse, recycling or other material recovery; naturally occurring soil in waste category 17 05 04 is excluded from that calculation. Funded demolition work must use selective demolition.
- Other national public aid can be combined within project costs and State-aid limits. Other EU aid for the same purpose is incompatible. Tell IDAE promptly about other requested or awarded aid and before justifying expenditure. Keep funded assets in their approved use and maintain the agricultural activity for at least five years from the project execution deadline.

- Closed second intake; terms described here refer to this call.
The second intake is closed, and IDAE published definitive awards on 28 July 2026. Use the official programme page to follow the programme and access its electronic office. Applications in that round used IDAE’s online forms and an authorised representative’s electronic signature. Selection was competitive.
For the second call, participation normally required a bank guarantee or surety insurance deposited with the Caja General de Depósitos for €20,000 per MW of generation peak capacity, excluding storage. Exemptions cover public administrations and their dependent bodies, state-owned companies and State public-sector foundations and their regional/local counterparts; aid below €3,000 subject to the statutory exception; entities exempt by law; and nonprofits carrying out social-action or international-cooperation projects and their federations, confederations or groups. Entities without legal personality are also exempt from participation guarantees. An advance requires security for the advance plus legal interest.
Submit the signed technical project report and, if the developer does not farm, the binding farmer agreement. Public-sector procurement rules apply where relevant. Other beneficiaries must obtain at least three supplier offers before contracting under Article 31(3) of the General Subsidies Law; its limited exceptions cover an insufficient supplier market or eligible expenditure already incurred before the subsidy.
Second-call projects must be executed by 30 June 2030. Justification is due within three months after the awarded execution deadline expires. Completion requires the appropriate electrical installation certificate and, where required, proof that the application for operating authorisation or commissioning has been registered with the competent authority.
Report operating data, expenditure and progress every six months. For agrivoltaics, send IDAE an annual report on the farming operation, crop yields and impacts of combining farming with solar generation for five years. Keep original supporting records available for inspection. Tell IDAE immediately about changed application conditions, and request any modification of the award before the execution deadline; failure to report changes can lead to loss or recovery of the grant.
