Residential photovoltaic grant

City of WalldorfSaksa

Grants for fixed solar electricity systems and battery storage on homes and association buildings in Walldorf.

Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels generate electricity from sunlight. The grant covers panels, inverters that convert the electricity for use, battery storage, installation materials, wiring and necessary electricity-connection or meter changes. A specialist must install or connect the system; your own labour costs are excluded.

PV support is €500 per kilowatt peak (kWp), the system's rated output, normally up to €10,000 per building. For new systems on buildings with a building application before 1 May 2022, the limit increases by €600 for each dwelling above three, provided each additional dwelling has at least 45 m² of living space. Extensions and eligible complete replacements also receive €500 per newly installed kWp, subject to the €10,000 building limit.

A battery installed with a new PV system receives €500 per kilowatt hour (kWh) of storage capacity; the rate is €250/kWh for legally mandatory PV systems. Retrofitting a battery or expanding existing storage receives €250/kWh. The maximum supported battery capacity depends on the supported PV output: 6 kWh for up to 5.9 kWp; 7 kWh for 6–7.9 kWp; 8 kWh for 8–13.9 kWp; 9 kWh for 14–17.9 kWp; and 10 kWh from 18 kWp.

Other public funding is deducted from the municipal grant; public support can cover no more than 50% of eligible costs. The grant is voluntary and depends on the city's budget, so meeting the conditions does not guarantee an award. The current rules apply through 31 December 2027.

Eligibility

  • The building must be in Walldorf. Property owners and holders of hereditary building rights may apply. Condominium owners must apply jointly and provide their owners' meeting resolution. Tenants need the owner's consent. Locally based associations and churches may apply for buildings in Walldorf; the grant cannot be combined with city association grants for construction works.
  • You can install on your own home and its ancillary building regardless of age. A PV operator using a roof made available by a third party can also receive support; the application must be submitted by the building owner or an authorised tenant.
  • Equipment must be paid for immediately after completion. Rented, leased or instalment-purchased systems are excluded. The city provides a one-time grant per property or building unit for full coverage, although applications covering only part of the roof are possible.
  • Where PV installation is legally mandatory, the mandatory portion is excluded and only additional output is funded. For buildings with a building application from 1 May 2022, the simplified mandatory-output calculation is 0.06 kWp per m² of built-over plot area. Mandatory PV rules also apply to comprehensive roof renovations from 1 January 2023, involving at least replacement of roof tiles and battens, and may arise from a development plan.
  • Replacing individual defective modules is excluded. Complete replacement of an installation supported by the city from 2022 onward is excluded; installations built before 2022 may be replaced with a new system.
  • On an existing green roof, preserve its function and leave suitable spacing between panels and between panels and the roof. Grant approval does not replace any necessary public or private permissions.

How to apply

Hakukierroksen ehdot
  • Apply before ordering or signing a contract and wait for approval. Awards depend on the available municipal budget. The rules apply through 31 December 2027.[^c1][^c13][^c14][^c17]

Apply through the City of Walldorf's online form before ordering equipment or signing a supply or installation contract. Wait for the city's approval before starting. Include the installation quote, a battery quote if relevant, the panel layout, and any necessary authorisation or evidence of an existing system.

Complete the work within the 12-month approval period. Submit the original invoices, specialist installation and commissioning confirmation, registration evidence from the Marktstammdatenregister (Germany's energy-installation register) or the alternative network-operator commissioning-application evidence, any other public funder's payment notice and installation photographs. For new buildings, also provide evidence of the PV output used to meet the legal installation obligation. Email these to umweltschutz@walldorf.de within six weeks after execution and before the approval expires. The city pays after completion and review of the documents; missing the approval period removes the right to payment.

Report changes or departures from your application immediately in writing. False statements or failing to report changes can cause exclusion and repayment of grants already received.
