Environmental protection and decarbonisation investment aid
Aid for companies established in Luxembourg investing in low-carbon technologies and environmental improvements beyond required standards.

You can fund investments that exceed environmental standards or anticipate future standards. Examples include low-carbon technologies, dedicated hydrogen, waste-heat or CO₂ infrastructure, and CO₂ capture and transport.
The support can be a capital grant, a recoverable advance that must be repaid, help with loan-interest costs (interest relief), or a loan that must be repaid. The official maximum-rate table gives 25–35% of eligible costs for small businesses, 20–30% for medium businesses and 15–25% for large businesses; legally defined increases may apply, including for assisted areas. These percentages apply to eligible costs, rather than automatically to your whole project budget. The general ceiling is EUR 30 million per business and investment project, while the current call has a total budget of EUR 6 million.
Capital grants and recoverable advances are paid after completion, although advance payments can be made as the investment proceeds. Submit a separate payment claim through MyGuichet.lu.
Eligibility
- Your company must be legally established in Luxembourg, hold a business permit and undertake an environmental or climate-protection project.
- Apply before work starts or you place a legally binding equipment order or make another irreversible commitment. Buying land, obtaining permits and conducting feasibility studies do not count as starting work. For an asset acquisition, the relevant start is the purchase of assets directly related to the acquired establishment.
- You must use the supported asset yourself and own it, unless a statutory ownership exception applies. Companies in difficulty or subject to an outstanding aid-recovery order are excluded. Fishing and aquaculture and nuclear-energy operators are excluded; primary agriculture and agricultural processing/marketing are subject to the legal exclusions and conditions. Export-related aid and aid conditional on using domestic products are excluded. An employer convicted twice for undeclared or illegal employment within the preceding four years is excluded.
- You cannot combine this aid with other aid covering the same eligible costs. European funding can be combined within the applicable maximum rates.
- Honour your approved commitments and obtain the minister’s approval before substantial project changes. Keep the asset for its required minimum holding period and continue using it for its intended purpose. For hydrogen, CO₂ and waste-heat infrastructure, changes of use, transfers and substantial changes require prior ministerial approval throughout the investment’s lifetime. Breaches can lead to loss of aid and repayment with legal interest, normally within three months of the minister’s decision unless it specifies another period.

Apply to the Ministry of the Economy through the MyGuichet.lu online assistant. You or your representative need a LuxTrust product or electronic identity card and a business eSpace.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) requesting less than EUR 100,000 use the simple-application procedure. All other projects under this particular scheme use a call for projects. The current call accepts eligible applications in order of receipt until its budget is exhausted; an eligible project cannot receive aid from that call once its budget is used up.
