Its focus includes software for renewable energy and electricity grids, tools that reduce the energy needed for AI computing, and digital technologies that improve resource use in industry. It also backs tools that help people and organisations manage climate risks.
Other supported areas include farm management and precision agriculture, software for electric vehicle fleets and charging, and digital tools for recycling and reuse. Buoyant also connects founders with buyers, partners and people they can hire through its network.
Eligibility
- Your company should be seeking initial seed financing or its first larger round to develop and grow the business (Series A). Buoyant looks for companies that can grow rapidly while using investment capital efficiently. It also builds relationships with companies still preparing for seed financing (pre-seed).
- Your solution should use software, AI, analytics, sensors, platforms or simple hardware to improve resource efficiency, resilience or decarbonisation.
- Buoyant invests primarily in the US and Canada. It also considers international companies when they are ready to expand into the US.
- In food and agriculture, it backs digital technologies rather than farms or manufacturing businesses. In mobility, it excludes electric vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure and fuels. In the circular economy, it excludes recycling facilities and new chemistries or materials.
