Electric heating and cooling rebates
Bill credits for residential electric customers installing eligible ground-source heat pumps at their Westfield home.
Tämän rahoitusmahdollisuuden kuvaus on toistaiseksi englanniksi.
Ground-source (geothermal) heat pumps use the earth's natural heat to heat and cool your home.
The ground-source heat-pump route offers a rebate of 50% of installation cost, up to $6,000 per eligible system. Westfield Gas + Electric (WG+E) pays an approved rebate as a credit on your electricity bill, up to the amount indicated in your application.
WG+E has announced an equipment eligibility change from 1 January 2027: air-conditioning and heat-pump rebates will require qualifying CEE Tier 1 or ENERGY STAR equipment using R-454B or R-32 refrigerants. Check WG+E's rebate requirements before buying equipment for that period.
Rebate offers can change or be cancelled without notice. Participation may create state or federal income-tax liability.
Eligibility
- You must be a current WG+E residential electric customer on a qualifying residential rate classification. A contractor must install the equipment at the customer address recorded on the application, within WG+E's service territory in Westfield, Massachusetts.
- The ground-source heat pump must be ENERGY STAR certified, meaning it meets the US Environmental Protection Agency’s energy-efficiency guidelines. The condenser and coil must be new and replaced together. Used equipment and private sales are excluded.
- All systems require a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) or electronic expansion valve (EXV). Provide the AHRI certificate showing the outdoor condenser and indoor coil's efficiency ratings together; ratings cannot be rounded up.
- A licensed contractor must install the equipment in accordance with state and local codes and the programme terms. Equipment purchases and installations must fall within the rolling twelve-month eligibility period, and WG+E must receive your complete claim within twelve months of installation.
- A household can receive no more than two rebates. For this limit, a system consists of one outdoor condenser and its associated indoor units.
You remain responsible for choosing contractors and equipment, checking the work and ensuring it suits your needs and complies with the rules. WG+E can inspect and monitor equipment for three years after installation; you must provide access, information and cooperation. It can require corrections before paying and, where applicable, withhold payment until installation documentation, final drawings, operating manuals and operator training have been verified.
The signed terms require you to defend and indemnify WG+E and specified related parties against installation-related claims, losses and expenses, including legal costs, arising from the work or customer and contractor acts or omissions. They also release WG+E from equipment- and programme-related obligations and liability apart from paying approved rebates. These obligations survive the end of your participation.
