Fund EX1 provides venture capital: investment in your company in return for a share of the business, rather than a grant. It backs technology development and commercial expansion. For example, it invested in Glimpse's battery quality-control technology to increase scanning capacity and reach new markets.
Depending on your company's needs, TDK Ventures may also help with product testing, pilot projects, customer introductions, manufacturing and supply-chain expertise.
Eligibility
- The fund focuses on startups based in Europe and North America that build electrification and emissions-cutting technologies on substantial scientific or engineering innovation—often called 'deep-tech'.
- It targets companies progressing from developing and testing their technology toward commercial expansion, within the seed-through-Series-B funding stages. These are early company funding rounds; supported work can include improving the technology, testing products and reaching new customers.
- TDK Ventures looks for companies that can lead their field, generate investment returns large enough to match the scale of the fund, benefit both the company and the fund's investors, and make a positive contribution to society through innovation.
- Its investment exclusions include military technology and technology with both civilian and military uses (dual-use), activities it classifies as 'vice', life sciences, food, education technology and financial technology.
