Green loan for the home

Alpha BankGrèce1,5–30 k EUR

An unsecured personal loan for people living and taxed in Greece to improve their home’s energy efficiency.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

Borrow for home solar panels, heat pumps, solar water heaters or solar water heating systems, replacement door and window frames, insulation, or energy-efficient home appliances such as air conditioners. The loan is for energy efficiency upgrades.

You can borrow €1,500–€30,000 at a branch, or €3,001–€30,000 through digital banking, for 6–96 months. No property mortgage or cash collateral is required.

The fixed annual nominal interest rate is 8.75%, plus the current 0.60% levy under Law 128/1975. Alpha Bank deducts a €120 application fee when it pays the loan into your chosen account. You repay the borrowed money and interest in monthly instalments, including by standing order from that account. Overdue amounts carry an interest rate 2.5 percentage points above the contractual rate.

You can repay early without an extra charge. For full repayment, deposit the money directly into the loan account at a branch cashier, Monday to Friday 08:00–11:00; the bank must also process the repayment transaction to complete it. For partial early repayment, transfer money directly into the loan account through web or mobile banking, or deposit it at a branch cashier during those hours.

Eligibility

  • You must live permanently and be taxed in Greece, have income in Greece, and be no older than 75 when the loan ends.
  • You must carry out energy efficiency upgrades and provide documents proving them.
  • You need a simple Alpha Bank account and up-to-date customer details. Online applications also require digital banking credentials; branch applications require an appointment. New customers can open their first account online or book an appointment without banking credentials.
  • Approval depends on the bank’s assessment. It may reject the application, offer different terms or require a guarantor based on your credit history. A guarantor co-signs and takes responsibility for repayment if you cannot pay; they must meet the same conditions as you, and you must visit a branch together.

Prepare your last year’s income tax clearance certificate; foreign citizens need certificates for the last two years. Provide a recent payslip or pension slip if your salary or pension is paid at another bank. EU foreign citizens need an ID card; non-EU citizens need a passport and residence permit. You must also provide proof of the energy efficiency upgrades. Freelance professionals may additionally need periodic VAT returns and Taxisnet submission proof, the latest E3 and N forms, and an insurance clearance certificate. For a branch appointment, the bank’s checklist requires ID, your latest income tax clearance certificate and a recent payslip if you are an employee or pension slip if you are a pensioner, including if you already bank with Alpha Bank. New customers and customers with outdated details also need the documents for updating their customer details listed in the bank’s checklist.

For an approved online application, sign digitally using the six-digit code sent to your mobile before the signing deadline shown in your application. Missing that deadline cancels the application, so you must start again. After signing, the bank immediately credits your chosen account and deducts the loan fee.
