Residential energy-efficiency rebates

Silicon Valley PowerCalifornie

Get a bill credit of up to $500 when you replace an electric resistance water heater with a qualifying heat-pump tank in an existing Santa Clara home.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

This entry covers the standard electric-to-electric water-heater rebate within the residential energy-efficiency programme. Heat-pump water heaters use less than half the electricity of traditional electric water heaters.

The standard rebate is up to $500. The covered route here is a purchase with a net appliance price of at least $500 after discounts, other incentives and tax credits, excluding tax and shipping. This covered purchase range is not a programme minimum. The rebate cannot exceed net eligible costs.

SVP pays this rebate as a one-time credit on the SVP portion of an active City of Santa Clara Municipal Utilities account. Allow two to three billing cycles after submission; contact SVP if it has not arrived after three.

Eligibility

  • You must be a current SVP residential customer in the City of Santa Clara. A landlord may participate if the tenant is an eligible SVP residential customer.
  • The replacement must be installed and operating in an existing residence receiving SVP electricity. New construction is excluded.
  • Replace an electric resistance water heater with an ENERGY STAR certified heat-pump tank water heater. Its Uniform Energy Factor (UEF), the equipment efficiency rating, must be at least 3.30 for any tank size. Instantaneous and tankless heaters are excluded. You cannot combine this rebate with the water-heater prewire add-on rebate.
  • Provide proof that the building permit has been issued. Electrical work must comply with local codes, permitting and inspection requirements.
  • Only one rebate per measure is available at each SVP service address every ten years. SVP may verify the appliance sale and installation before payment and decides whether to approve the rebate.
  • Pay in United States currency; store credit and credit-card points do not qualify. Customer labour is excluded from reimbursement; eligible reimbursed labour must be performed by a licensed or qualified contractor.

Discrepancies can invalidate an application. The offer is void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. SVP disclaims liability for loss or damage from participation and does not guarantee that installing the appliance will reduce your electricity bill.
