Water, greenery and shading subsidy
A grant for homeowners installing a new green roof on a building in Capelle aan den IJssel, paying €25 per m² up to 50% of eligible costs.

You can get support for designing and installing a planted roof, including materials and plants. Reasonable costs directly connected to the work qualify, including VAT that you cannot recover. The stated subsidy tariff is exclusive of VAT. Maintenance, repairs and replacement of an existing green-roof provision are excluded.
The green roof must have at least four layers: a root-resistant layer, drainage, a growing-medium layer and vegetation.
The exterior-shading budget is exhausted, but new green-roof applications are still invited.
Eligibility
- As a private homeowner, you must own the building in Capelle aan den IJssel; owners of individual apartments are included.
- The planted roof must cover at least 3 m², excluding paths and terraces. You must investigate, or have someone investigate, whether the roof is suitable. Obtain any required permits and comply with applicable laws. You cannot receive support for a provision already subsidized by this municipality.
- Complete the installation within four months of receiving the award decision. You remain responsible for the structural safety of the building and roof, must maintain the roof carefully and must keep the funded result for at least five years. Allow municipal staff access to inspect compliance. The award can impose additional obligations.
- Notify the municipality immediately in writing if the work or grant obligations will not be completed fully or on time. Also report relevant changes in financial or organizational relationships and developments that could prevent compliance.
An eligible roof does not guarantee an award. The municipality can refuse support if the project does not sufficiently benefit the municipality or its residents, does not contribute sufficiently to municipal policy, is already substantially provided for another way, or you have not shown that the subsidy is needed. Unlawful activities or missing requested information can also lead to refusal. It must refuse support where budget funds are insufficient; an application cannot concern a period longer than one calendar year.

- Awards depend on available annual budget and complete-application order; same-day oversubscription is resolved by lottery.
For a project you have not started, submit your complete application at least ten weeks before you plan to begin. This lead time satisfies both the general ordinance’s ten-week instruction and the programme website’s instruction to apply at least four weeks in advance. Wait for the municipality’s approval before starting.
Download and sign the paper application. Include a description and design of the roof with its area, a drawing to scale (preferably 1:100), actual colour before photographs, and an itemized budget showing material, plant, design and installation costs, or a quote prepared by a specialized, recognized company. Include required permits, a valid authorization if someone applies for you, and readable bank-account proof. The municipality can ask for other information needed for its decision.

Applications are accepted while funds remain. Complete applications are ordered by arrival; applications completed on the same day enter a lottery if funding all of them would exceed the ceiling. An award that would exceed the ceiling is refused in full.
There is no automatic payment or advance immediately after the award. Within four weeks of completing the roof, ask the municipality to confirm the final grant amount, providing colour after photographs, a copy of your bank card, and invoices or payment records. The municipality decides within four weeks of receiving the complete settlement request.
