AanZET zero-emission truck purchase grants

Netherlands Enterprise AgencyPays-Basjusqu’à 115,2 k EURclos

Grants for businesses and nonprofits buying or financially leasing new zero-emission trucks registered in the Netherlands.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

AanZET contributes to a new zero-emission truck bought outright or through financial lease, which transfers ownership to the buyer. The grant is a percentage of the chassis sales price including factory options, excluding bodywork and VAT. Each percentage has its own per-truck ceiling:

Vehicle Large enterprise Medium enterprise Small enterprise or nonprofit
N2 rigid-truck chassis, at least 10,000 kg 6.1%, up to €15,200 12%, up to €29,900 14.8%, up to €36,900
N3 rigid-truck chassis or tractor unit 11.1%, up to €43,900 21%, up to €83,200 29%, up to €115,200

Weight means the technical maximum mass recorded as F1 in the RDW register. Use the SME assessment to establish company size. RVO may request a comparable diesel quotation to check the maximum permitted state aid and will reduce support if that ceiling is exceeded.

Other government or EU purchase subsidies are deducted from AanZET. The Energy Investment Allowance (EIA) is an exception to this deduction. Trucks already supported through SSEB (clean, emission-free construction equipment) or SWIM (hydrogen mobility) cannot receive AanZET.

Eligibility

The applicant must be a business or nonprofit registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK), with an establishment in the Netherlands. Public-law autonomous administrative bodies with legal personality, provinces, municipalities, water boards and public bodies under the joint-arrangements legislation are excluded. Undertakings in difficulty, applicants subject to an outstanding state-aid recovery order and unlawful aid combinations are ineligible.

“Undertaking in difficulty” is a formal EU state-aid assessment of the business’s financial position, not simply a description of day-to-day business problems. A business can fail it even with sufficient cash in the bank. Use RVO’s official decision tree to answer the questions and carry out any calculations required for your situation.

The truck must be new, fully emission-free and in category N2 rigid-truck chassis of at least 10,000 kg, or N3 rigid-truck chassis/tractor unit. RDW first admission, first Dutch registration and registration in the applicant’s name must coincide. For operational lease, use the registration date of the leasing company’s registration reservation (verstrekkingsvoorbehoud) instead of registration in the applicant’s name. Eligible RDW fuel codes are E for electricity and W for hydrogen; the drive must be electric or meet the specified combustion-emission limits of less than 1 g CO₂/kWh or less than 1 g CO₂/km under the applicable EU test rules. A battery must contain no lead.

Sign a purchase or financial-lease agreement that remains non-binding when applying, and attach it. The truck must not yet be registered in your name. An order made irrevocable before application leads to rejection at final settlement and repayment of the advance.

For operational lease, the purchasing leasing company applies, not the customer. It can register the truck in the customer’s name with a registration reservation recording the leasing company’s interest in the vehicle. The manufacturer must already hold an EU or national type approval for an emission-free truck; this may cover a different model. You cannot change brand or manufacturer after award.

Conditions de cette période de candidature
  • One application per applicant per working day: at most two trucks on each of the first two days, then at most ten. May close earlier when the budget is exhausted.

Apply through RVO from 29 September 2026 at 09:00 to 16 October at 12:00, Netherlands time. The autumn budget is €119.2 million. Each applicant may submit one application on each of 29 and 30 September for at most two trucks per application. From 1 October, one application per working day may cover at most ten trucks. RVO considers only the first application if several are submitted on one day. The former group-wide restriction has been removed, but an application or truck cannot later be transferred to a business that already received an AanZET award for that same day.

Use eHerkenning level 2+ with the appropriate authorisation, or authorise an intermediary. Applications are ranked by the date they become complete, not time of day; if the budget is exceeded, complete applications on that day enter a lottery. Applications close when exhaustion is announced. An SME declaration is optional in 2026 and gives priority in assessment.

Make the order definitive within one month of the award decision and show this on request. RVO normally pays a 70% advance after award. Request final settlement within 12 months of award, once the truck is registered, with its registration number and itemised payment invoice. RVO checks the application, delivered truck and compliance with the conditions, then determines the final grant and pays the remaining amount after the 70% advance. The final grant cannot exceed the award; the balance is not automatic. RVO can grant up to 12 months’ postponement if a bodybuilder’s declaration demonstrates that building and fitting the body takes longer; the declaration must include the chassis number.

Keep the truck registered continuously in the recipient’s name, or under the leasing company’s registration reservation, for four years from first registration and naming. Retain the agreement for that period; report early sale or other material changes, which may lead to proportionate repayment. A replacement by another qualifying new zero-emission truck can cover the remaining period if you do not seek a new subsidy for that replacement and RVO amends the award after receiving its registration, agreement and invoice.
