Electric car premium
A grant for lower-income households in eligible Swedish rural areas to buy or lease a new or used electric car.

For applications submitted by 30 June 2028, the premium is SEK 46,800, paid monthly over 36 months. From 1 July 2028 through 30 June 2029, the total is SEK 32,400.
A household with income below 50% of Sweden's mean income can also receive an initial supplement: SEK 18,000 for applications submitted by 30 June 2028 and SEK 10,000 after that date.
The support is for buying or leasing a new or used electric passenger car. Plug-in hybrids do not qualify.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18, have a Swedish personal identity number and be registered as living at an address in the support area. This covers Sweden's rural municipalities and areas that Statistics Sweden classifies as rural in other municipalities.
- Your household's adjusted combined annual income must be no more than 80% of Sweden's mean income. No one in the household may pay state income tax.
- No one in your household may have owned or leased an electric car or plug-in hybrid during the 12 months before the application.
- A purchased car must cost SEK 64,800–450,000. A leased car must have a monthly cost of SEK 1,800–4,600.
- The car may not be used for business and must remain registered to you as owner or lessee throughout the 36-month support period.

- Grants can only be awarded while budget remains.
Apply through Naturvårdsverket's online service. You can apply before acquiring the car or no later than two months afterward. Naturvårdsverket recommends applying and receiving a decision first; after advance approval, you have four months to acquire the car and report its registration number.
