ElecTel can lend up to 100% of the purchase price, including taxes and installation, within the USD 30,000 loan limit. You repay the money with fixed interest, using payment terms arranged to suit your needs.
The published annual percentage rate (APR) starts at 6.90%; this is the advertised lowest rate, rather than a rate promised to every borrower. The rate schedule is effective from 29 June 2026 and may change without notice. ElecTel also refers to a primary risk score based on your FICO credit score.
Eligibility
- The loan is primarily for owners of residential dwellings, including single-family homes, duplexes and owner-occupied condominiums.
- You must be an ElecTel member. You can join as a member or consumer of an approved North Carolina electric or telephone cooperative, or as an eligible family member. Employees, directors and officers of electric and telephone cooperatives in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Tennessee and West Virginia can also join. Family members related by blood, marriage or adoption are eligible.
- Joining requires a membership application and a minimum USD 1 deposit to open a regular savings account. ElecTel verifies your identity when you open an account, requesting your name, address, date of birth and other identifying information; it may also request identifying documents.
