Home energy rebates

CPS EnergyTexasclôture 31 janv. 2027

Rebates for residential account holders upgrading attic insulation, installing a reflective roof or replacing an existing pool pump in the CPS Energy service area.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

You can receive money back as a utility bill credit or a check for qualifying improvements to an existing home. The rebate cannot exceed your project cost, and payment depends on completed paperwork and verification.

  • Attic insulation pays $0.35 per square foot when installed by a contractor, or $0.25 when you install it yourself.
  • A cool roof pays $0.08 or $0.20 per square foot of conditioned space beneath the roof, depending on its slope and three-year solar reflectance—the share of sunlight it reflects after ageing. For low-slope roofs, reflectance from 0.50 to below 0.70 earns $0.08; at least 0.70 earns $0.20. For high-slope roofs, 0.15 to below 0.50 earns $0.08; at least 0.50 earns $0.20. Unconditioned areas are excluded, and the lower floor beneath an upper storey does not add rebate area.
  • An eligible replacement pool pump pays $50 per rated horsepower, up to $150. The programme uses the horsepower listed by ENERGY STAR and rounds payouts to the nearest half horsepower.

Bill credits normally take 2–3 weeks after completed paperwork; checks take 8–12 weeks. Payment normally goes to the account holder. You may authorize a third-party check, including to a landlord or contractor; a contractor must show the rebate as a credit on your invoice. Third-party payments cannot use bill credit.

Eligibility

You must be a residential CPS Energy account holder, and the work must be in its service area in an existing single-family home through a fourplex. New homes do not qualify. Tenants must obtain the owner's permission to install the improvements.

  • Insulation must separate air-conditioned living space from an unconditioned attic. With more than 24 inches of attic clearance, existing insulation must be no greater than R-14 and the finished level at least R-38. With less than 24 inches, the limits are R-11 existing and at least R-19 finished. Assess existing insulation allowing for degradation from age and density. R-value is the insulation level shown on the material packaging; use new materials with this value stated. Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify, nor do gas-heated homes without air conditioning.
  • Cool-roof work must replace at least 75% of the roof surface, without significant shading. The existing roof must have no radiant barrier, and the home must have functioning electrical central or window air conditioning. Use a roofing product with a validated Cool Roof Rating Council performance rating listed in its rated-products directory, and provide the insulation R-value. Cool-roof projects within San Antonio city limits require the permit number on the application.
  • A pool pump must be a new ENERGY STAR-listed variable-speed model replacing an existing pump one for one, with at least a one-year manufacturer warranty. Programme it to ENERGY STAR efficiency standards and comply with applicable installation and operation codes. Motor-only replacements, rebuilt pumps and pumps for newly constructed pools do not qualify.

You must allow programme access to the property and energy-use and cost information. Applications may be inspected; a rebate will not be paid if verification cannot be completed. Violating the terms can lead to refusal of payment or participation. The form also requires you, to the extent allowed by law, to cover claims-related losses and liabilities arising from installed products or installation and maintenance services for CPS Energy, CLEAResult and their listed associated parties. Programme inspection does not guarantee the equipment or quality of the work.

For pumps, provide equipment and installation costs, model and serial numbers, and a photo of those numbers.
