Residential Home Upgrades rebates

Truckee Donner Public Utility DistrictCalifornie

Rebates help residential electric customers replace an electric or gas water heater with an efficient heat-pump water heater.

Cette fiche est actuellement disponible en anglais.

The Residential Home Upgrades programme helps customers reduce emissions through home efficiency improvements. Its heat-pump water-heater option pays $750 when replacing an electric unit or $1,000 when replacing a gas unit.

The rebate cannot exceed equipment and installation charges; sales tax is excluded. The account holder normally receives a bill credit, but any credit above $700 is paid as a one-time check. If the account holder is a landlord whose account is inactive when the rebate is issued, TDPUD mails a check to the landlord address on file.

Eligibility

You must be a current electric customer with an active TDPUD account. The equipment must be installed at the service address identified in your application.

  • Buy a new ENERGY STAR certified heat-pump water heater with a Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of at least 2.5. UEF is the equipment efficiency rating required by the form.
  • Have a licensed contractor install it in compliance with current Town of Truckee building code.
  • When replacing a gas water heater, cap the old gas line and include a photograph of it with your application.

Equipment purchased more than 90 days before the application or the contractor invoice date is ineligible. Complete the upgrade within 90 days of receipt of the rebate application.
