Bruxell’Air mobility grant
A mobility budget for Brussels residents who cancel their car registration and switch to public transport, cycling or shared mobility.

You receive a budget to order mobility services for yourself or people on your household register. The available grant is €566, €766 or €1,132; it is not an unrestricted cash payment. Your choices and the amounts allocated to each service are final. Unallocated money is lost, and the grant expires two years after the award certificate.
The amount uses the combined globally taxable income of all adults in your household, shown on the latest tax assessment. The maximum is €1,132 below €45,938 for a single person or €64,264 for a cohabiting household/couple; €766 for the respective bands €45,938–€91,754 and €64,264–€110,080; and €566 above those upper thresholds. A household member who qualifies for a disability parking card gives access to €1,132 regardless of income.
You can allocate at least €200 to the bicycle and micromobility reimbursement budget. Buy eligible items only after receiving the award certificate, from shops in Belgium, and obtain detailed paid invoices. Submit the invoices together with the signed declaration to Pro Velo within two years of the award. Reimbursement cannot exceed either the allocated budget or the invoice, and combined aid for the same purchases cannot exceed 100% of the invoice.
Available services also include STIB public transport and shared mobility. Each operator’s terms apply. For Cambio, allocate at least €200: a START subscription is deducted from that budget, leaving the rest for trips. A €150 deposit is paid separately. Drivers under 25 who have held their licence for less than two years must pay the Campus Safety Pack (€25 activation plus €6/month). A Modalizy prepaid card needs at least €50 and deducts €11.50 activation plus €5.75 for each month of use; users must be 18 or older, and bicycle purchases through this card are restricted to specialist bicycle shops in Belgium.
Eligibility
- You must be an individual domiciled in one of Brussels’ 19 municipalities. Only you and people on your household register may use the services.
- Cancel the registration plate of a passenger car (category M1, excluding motorhomes) registered continuously in your name for at least one year. If it belonged to a deceased household member, contact primebruxellair@environnement.brussels to apply in their place.
- Apply within six months of plate cancellation. A plate can receive the grant only once. An application left unfinished six months after it was started is deleted, and a new application for that plate is no longer possible.
- You cannot receive the grant if you or a household member began benefiting from a company car or equivalent less than three months before the application.
- For one year after plate cancellation, nobody in the household may register an additional car or motorcycle (categories M1 and L3–L7), or obtain an additional company car. Replacing a remaining household vehicle is allowed, as is registering a moped or speed pedelec (categories L1 and L2). Breaking the grant conditions triggers repayment.

Read Bruxelles Environnement’s rules before cancelling your plate. Then apply through IRISbox within six months, select your mobility services, click “Envoyer la demande” and confirm. The form will not let you submit with more than €100 unallocated; any unallocated amount is lost. Complete the application within six months of starting it.
Bruxelles Environnement validates the application and sends the award certificate. STIB coordinates orders, and the operators contact you to finish registration or activate your services. For the bicycle budget, wait for the certificate before purchasing and send paid invoices and the signed declaration to info@provelo.org.
