Business energy-saving incentives
Incentives for businesses in British Columbia to upgrade lighting and add energy-saving refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment.

Funding supports eligible equipment upgrades that reduce electricity use at your business. The amount depends on the equipment and project details; BC Hydro estimates your incentive from the application. Past participants received an average of 40% of upfront costs, rather than a fixed rate for every project.
A 30% bonus incentive applies to projects submitted from 3 June 2025 to 11 February 2027 and completed by 14 March 2028. LED reflector bulb replacement incentives end on 1 April 2027; submit those projects by 11 February 2027 to qualify.
BC Hydro pays an incentive cheque after you complete the project and it approves your final documentation.
Eligibility
The offer serves businesses in British Columbia.
- The programme primarily serves commercial and small industrial sites using less than 500 megawatt-hours of electricity per year. Some sites with higher use may qualify: confirm with your BC Hydro Key Account Manager or the business help desk on 1 866 522 4713.
- Use a contractor registered with BC Hydro’s Alliance of Energy Professionals. Confirm their membership and obtain their contractor ID.
- Projects must be simple, one-for-one replacements or add-ons using eligible configurations and products listed in the e.Catalog. Complex redesign projects are outside this offer.
- BC Hydro may select your project for a site inspection before application approval, after completion, or both.
How to apply

Register in the Conservation and Energy Management Hub (CEM Hub) using your BC Hydro account number. Obtain project pre-approval before starting work.
Generate a PIN so your Alliance contractor can complete and submit the application for you. Alternatively, start the application with the contractor’s ID, have them complete the technical details, and submit it yourself. BC Hydro estimates the incentive from the project details and costs.
If you need a different retrofit configuration, notify BC Hydro immediately before work begins. Quantities and project cost can be changed in the completion declaration; changes to scope or inspection findings can alter the incentive.
After completing the project, submit final documentation in CEM Hub. BC Hydro reviews and approves it before processing your incentive cheque.
