Climate-adaptation grant: green roofs

Gemeente ZwartewaterlandHollandialezárul 2026. dec. 31.

Property owners in Zwartewaterland can receive €20 per m², up to €2,000 per address, for installing a green roof.

Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.

You can use this municipal climate-adaptation grant to install a green roof on a property you own. A green roof must have a root-resistant layer, a growing-medium layer and a vegetation layer consisting mainly of living plants that grow very slowly and largely sustain themselves.

The grant covers costs directly connected with installation. Application costs, recoverable or compensable VAT, and permit application or installation-permit costs are excluded.

Eligibility

  • You must own the property. The municipality invites residents of Zwartewaterland to apply, including property owners.
  • Install the roof on or beside your property in Zwartewaterland. The property must be legally built and listed in the Dutch Register of Addresses and Buildings (BAG); extensions, outbuildings and associated grounds are included. Your own enclosure for rubbish containers is also eligible.
  • The same activity at the address must not have received this subsidy before.
  • Design and installation must follow the instructions for use, comply with applicable laws and regulations, and you must maintain the completed measure. Include any permit required for the work, and written neighbour consent if the work takes place on a boundary.

The general subsidy ordinance also applies. The municipality must refuse aid that breaches EU state-aid rules, which restrict public support that distorts competition between businesses. It may refuse an application if the applicant lacks legal personality (as an individual does), is a profit-making legal entity, or if the work conflicts with law, public interest, public order or municipal policy. This discretion remains alongside the scheme’s property-owner route. It may also refuse if the work does not benefit the municipality or its residents (except the stated central-government funding exception), money will not sufficiently serve the funded purpose, support is unnecessary or unjustified, participation exclusions constitute impermissible discrimination, or subsidy conditions are not met.

Notify the municipality immediately in writing if the work or grant conditions cannot be met fully or on time. Also report termination of funded activities or dissolution of a funded legal entity, relevant financial or organizational changes involving third parties, developments affecting compliance, and relevant changes to a legal entity’s statutes, directors or purpose.

Grants of up to €10,000 are settled directly. For two years after settlement, the municipality may require proof that the work took place and accounts of related expenditure and income. It may withdraw or change an award if it later proves to be unlawful EU state aid.

Apply after completing the work and within six months of completion. Use the Olst-Wijhe application form and select Zwartewaterland at the first step. Applications are accepted year-round while funds remain. The 2026 scheme runs until 31 December 2026. Complete applications receive funding in order of arrival; if applications received on the same day exceed the annual budget, their order is determined by lottery. The municipality decides within eight weeks of receiving the application and may extend this once by four weeks.
