Energy renovation loan

Danske BankFinnország

Households can borrow for energy-saving improvements to a home, holiday home or investment property, with secured and unsecured options.

Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.

You can finance work such as heat pumps, solar panels, better windows and doors, insulation or ventilation that recovers heat. The offer also covers renovations that help a property adapt to climate change, and lists moisture-damage repairs and replacement of asbestos-containing structures among its examples. At least half of the loan must go towards improving the property’s energy efficiency or adapting it to climate change.

Choose the loan route that fits your amount and security:

  • Kertalaina: a secured loan for more than EUR10,000. You provide security, such as a home or a bank deposit. The interest combines a personally agreed margin with 12-month Euribor, a reference interest rate that is reset every 12 months. Danske Bank agrees the term, repayment schedule and fees with you.
  • Etulaina: an unsecured loan of EUR5,000–25,000 for one borrower, or EUR5,000–50,000 for two borrowers. It is for Danske Bank customers with higher education.
  • Haavelaina: an unsecured loan of EUR5,000–15,000 for one borrower, or EUR5,000–30,000 for two borrowers. It is for Danske Bank customers.

For the energy-renovation versions of Etulaina and Haavelaina, interest is 12-month Euribor plus a margin of 3.5 percentage points. Both are repaid in instalments over a maximum of five years. The bank’s energy-loan examples dated 1 June 2026 include a EUR90 arrangement fee and EUR5 per instalment.

You must repay the loan according to the agreed schedule. You can repay early by notifying the bank. Costs for the unused loan period are deducted, but the bank can retain the agreed loan-establishment costs and charge costs arising from security arrangements.

Eligibility

  • The renovation can concern your own home, holiday home or investment apartment or property. At least 50% of the borrowing must fund energy efficiency or climate adaptation.
  • Kertalaina is available to customers of any bank, with acceptable security. Etulaina and Haavelaina require Danske Bank customer status and regular payments into your Danske Bank account.
  • Etulaina also requires higher education. Membership of an Akava-affiliated trade union is not required.
  • Every loan requires a positive credit decision. Danske Bank checks personal credit information with Suomen Asiakastieto and Finland’s positive credit register.

Use Danske Bank’s energy-renovation page to choose Kertalaina, Etulaina or Haavelaina and follow its application link for that option. Before applying, estimate the loan amount and consider whether you can provide security.

Before you can receive the loan, sign the loan agreement and meet the other agreed conditions for receiving the funds. You and anyone providing assets as security for your loan or guaranteeing its repayment must supply the identification information and documents the bank requests, in a form it accepts. Where security is agreed, the bank must receive it and the signed pledge or guarantee documents. Anyone providing third-party security or a guarantee must not have exercised their cancellation right. Receive the loan within three months of signing unless the bank agrees otherwise.
