Higo BankJapán100 E–15 M JPY

Individuals can borrow for solar panels or home batteries on a family-owned property, with a lower variable interest rate for these energy improvements.

Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.

Higo Bank’s normal renovation-loan plan covers installation of solar generation systems and home batteries. These works qualify for its SDGs renovation discount, a reduction in interest for specified energy, care and disaster-prevention improvements. This listing covers new solar and home-battery installations.

You can borrow JPY 100,000–15 million in JPY 10,000 increments for six months to 20 years. Loans of JPY 3 million or less have a maximum term of 10 years.

The normal variable rate is 4.20% a year. Qualifying solar or battery work reduces it to 3.90%; having your salary or pension paid into Higo Bank as well reduces it to 3.60%. Existing Higo Bank mortgage borrowers, including joint borrowers, can receive 2.80% instead, but cannot combine that discount with the others. Japan Housing Finance Agency mortgage users do not qualify for the mortgage discount. These rates include the guarantee fee and apply when Higin Card guarantees the loan; a JACCS guarantee adds 0.10 percentage points. The bank’s published rates are dated 1 October 2026.

After borrowing, your interest rate moves up or down by the same amount as Higo Bank’s short-term prime rate, which the bank reviews as financial conditions change. You repay principal and interest in equal monthly instalments, with the option of combining monthly and bonus repayments. The bank deposits the loan in your account and immediately transfers it to the contractor; you pay the transfer fee.

Eligibility

  • You must be an individual aged at least 18 when applying and under 82 when the loan is fully repaid, with stable, continuing income.
  • The property must belong to you, a family member living with you, or a relative within the second degree of kinship, such as a parent, child, grandparent, grandchild or sibling. If you are not the owner, you must provide evidence of the family relationship.
  • Both the bank and its guarantee company assess your application and may decline it. Higin Card conducts the initial guarantee assessment; if it does not approve a guarantee, JACCS automatically conducts a second assessment. No collateral is required, but the guarantee company may require a personal guarantor.
  • For borrowing above JPY 3 million, you must be able to join the bank’s life insurance for borrowers; Higo Bank pays its premium.
  • Your installation work must not finish before the guarantee company completes its assessment. Payments made after submitting an online or branch application but before the loan contract are not financed.
  • For solar equipment of 10 kW or more, provide the supplier’s electricity-sales forecast and the property register for the building or land. Installation on agricultural land also requires a copy of the farmland-conversion permit.

Apply through Higo Bank’s online loan application, completing it yourself, or use a branch if you do not have a Higo Bank ordinary deposit account or your registered address has changed. Online applicants must update a changed registered address first. The contact centre calls after submission to confirm your application.

Prepare identity documents, an estimate or contract showing the work, and your repayment-account passbook and registered seal. The work documents must have been issued within the last month and remain valid. Income evidence is required if you are aged 18–19 or borrow more than JPY 3 million; the web instructions list an income certificate or category-specific alternatives. For employees these include an annual withholding statement or the latest three months of payslips.

After the work finishes, visit the bank to complete the contract at least two weeks before your desired borrowing date. If more than three months pass between notification of the assessment result and borrowing, the bank may assess the application again. For an application consultation, call Higo Bank on 0120-1589-30 or 096-277-1140, weekdays 09:00–17:00 excluding bank holidays.
