Business Fellowship
A full-time paid fellowship for experienced climate-business professionals to help early-stage climate-technology teams reach market, with an industry-competitive living stipend.

Breakthrough Energy pays selected Business Fellows an industry-competitive living stipend while they work full time with several Innovator teams. The work can include go-to-market strategy, customer discovery and other projects that move early-stage climate technologies towards commercial use.
The programme also provides access to industry experts, partners and Breakthrough Energy's network of mentors, policy experts, investors, technologists and government bodies.
Eligibility
This fellowship is for experienced business professionals rather than applicants bringing their own technology. You should have deep experience in areas such as markets, economics, business models, rapid technology scale-up or an industry relevant to the programme.
Breakthrough Energy says likely candidates have significant experience taking hardware technology towards market and applicable business experience in the climate sector. It assesses candidates on their accomplishments, fit with the expertise currently needed by Innovator teams and potential impact in the programme.
You must be ready to spend all your professional time supporting Innovators and participating in the curriculum. Business Fellows cannot work on other projects without prior approval; the programme also says Fellows should not have outside employment, consulting work or academic enrolment.
Candidates can come from anywhere in the world. The programme is conducted in English and does not require relocation, although occasional in-person events may be requested.

Use the Submission of Interest form and select Being a Business Fellow. This is not a standing application: Breakthrough Energy recruits only when it identifies a specific gap in the business expertise needed by Innovator teams. It then contacts potential candidates from the interest form or its wider network.
Candidates may be invited to a series of virtual or in-person meetings.
