Sustainability fund
Grants for resident groups, clubs and organisations near Terneuzen solar parks to install solar panels or energy-saving lighting for their local community.
Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.
The Duurzaamheidsfonds uses contributions from local solar parks to fund community projects. Terneuzen municipality assesses applications and pays the grant to the organisation after approval.
The current intake covers the Bontepolder and Vloeivelden catchments. Their published annual budgets are €16,000 and €27,300 respectively. One project can receive no more than 60% of the total budget available at the time of assessment; this is a share of the available fund budget, rather than a reimbursement rate for project costs. A project needing funding every year over several years is limited to 15% of the relevant park’s annual fund income: €2,400 for Bontepolder or €4,095 for Vloeivelden on the published annual figures.
Zones 1 and 2 normally share 70% of the annual budget; zones 3 and 4 share 30%. The municipality assesses nearer-zone projects first. It may increase or redistribute the outer-zone allocation only for high-quality projects that clearly improve the area’s liveability and development and have sufficient support within the municipal executive. It must explain that exception publicly.
An overlapping catchment can seek funding from both parks, subject to each park’s zone priorities and the limit of one organisation application per calendar year. Larger projects may need funds saved over several years, remaining budgets from other parks or outside finance. If the reserve cannot cover both the municipality’s specific measures in table A of the spatial strategy and community initiatives in table B, table A measures take priority.
Eligibility
- You must apply as a Terneuzen resident living within the participation zones of Bontepolder or Vloeivelden, on behalf of an organisation or foundation. Resident groups and clubs can propose a project, but payments cannot go to a private bank account.
- For this intake, your project must be in Terneuzen municipality and within the participation zones around Bontepolder or Vloeivelden: zone 1 is 0–1 km, zone 2 is 1–2 km, zone 3 is 2–5 km and zone 4 is 5–12 km from the park. Use the municipality’s linked map to check the project’s zone. Nearer zones have priority over more distant zones.
- The project must benefit the local community, rather than an individual. Solar panels and energy-saving lighting must serve that shared purpose. Show community support, for example through statements of support, neighbours’ responses or a record of a residents’ meeting.
- The project must comply with national and municipal policy and applicable law, and be technically and financially feasible. Projects or events with a political purpose are excluded. Enough money must remain in the fund to finance the initiative.
- Commercial, profit-seeking projects are normally excluded. A business can exceptionally apply for development of a socially beneficial sustainable product, explaining the community benefit in its proposal.
- An organisation may submit only one application per calendar year, even if it lies within several solar-park catchments. Costs above the submitted budget cannot subsequently be funded. Funding may be withdrawn if the project breaches its award conditions.
