Commercial and industrial energy efficiency rebate
Rebates help MID business electricity customers replace existing equipment with more efficient air conditioning, refrigeration, advanced lighting controls and other electrical equipment.
Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.
Merced Irrigation District (MID) pays a rebate after your approved retrofit project is completed, inspected and verified. LED lighting rebates closed on 1 June 2026; other energy-efficiency incentives, including advanced lighting controls, remain available.
The incentive calculation depends on the equipment. Advanced lighting controls earn $0.08 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) saved. Air conditioning and refrigeration use the greater of $0.15 per kWh saved or $500 per kilowatt (kW) of peak demand reduced. Other equipment uses the greater of $0.10 per kWh saved or $300 per kW of peak demand reduced. Energy savings cover the first year; demand savings measure the reduction during the peak period, where applicable.
Your payment cannot exceed the lesser of 50% of eligible project costs, including equipment and labor, or the incentive approved in MID's Reservation of Funds Letter. The total is also limited to $150,000 per customer per year. Applications are handled first come, first served while funds remain, and acceptance does not guarantee funding.
Eligibility
- You must be a qualifying commercial or industrial MID electric customer. Equipment must be installed and operated at an MID-served facility. MID serves portions of Merced County, California; being located in the county alone does not establish eligibility.
- Obtain MID pre-approval before purchasing or installing any qualifying equipment. Your retrofit must exceed applicable local, state and federal efficiency standards.
- Replacement equipment must operate for at least five years. Buy it for use in your business; equipment held as inventory or for resale does not qualify.
- You must certify that you have not received another rebate for the same equipment and allow MID to verify the purchase, installation and energy savings. Rebates cannot be assigned or transferred.

- Non-LED retrofit incentives remain available. Completed applications are accepted first come, first served until funds are exhausted or MID terminates the programme; acceptance does not guarantee funding.
- MID may change or discontinue the programme without prior notice. Pre-approval is required before equipment purchase and installation.
Submit the original, completed and signed energy-efficiency rebate application and appropriate project rebate forms to rebates@mercedid.org, or post them to Merced Irrigation District, 744 West 20th Street, Merced, CA 95340. Apply for pre-approval before buying or installing equipment.
Include a project description, the existing or assumed energy-use baseline, proposed equipment details, estimated costs and the methods and calculations used to estimate annual energy savings and peak demand reductions. Provide a plan to measure and verify savings if MID requires one. MID or its technical consultants can request additional supporting documents. Incomplete or unsigned applications, or those missing required documents, are not processed and do not enter the funding queue.
MID determines at pre-approval whether inspections before and after installation are needed. Complete and submit the application before scheduling a post-installation inspection. Once the project is complete, submit the rebate forms and application with detailed, dated, paid itemized invoices and relevant equipment data and specification sheets. MID must inspect and approve the project and confirm available funds before issuing the rebate check; incorrect or insufficient invoices delay payment.
