Residential electricity customers can receive $500 per ton towards an air-source heat pump, up to $1,500 per service address each calendar year.

Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.

The rebate covers air-source heat pumps, including mini-splits, that heat and cool your home. The payment is calculated from the cooling capacity on the equipment’s AHRI certificate, which records its certified performance: one ton equals 12,000 BTUs of cooling capacity. The rebate is $500 per ton, limited to three tons and $1,500 per service address each calendar year.

Funding is allocated in the order MMWEC receives complete, qualifying claims. If the annual budget is exhausted, qualifying claims are considered at the start of the next budget year before new claims.

Eligibility

  • You must be a residential electricity customer of Russell Municipal Light Department, with the heat pump installed at its service address. The utility serves Russell Village, Massachusetts.
  • Purchase and install the heat pump between 1 January and 31 December 2026. A Massachusetts-licensed contractor must install it; self-installations and ductless units that only provide cooling are excluded.
  • The equipment must meet minimum efficiency ratings: SEER2 (seasonal cooling efficiency) of 15.2, HSPF2 (seasonal heating efficiency) of 8.1, and COP (heating output relative to electricity input) of 1.75 at 5°F. Ratings cannot be rounded up to meet these thresholds.
  • By signing, you certify that your information is accurate, you comply with the rebate terms, you have received your contractor’s Manual J sizing report, and you are satisfied the heat pump meets your heating and air-conditioning needs. The sizing report checks the capacity your home needs.

Give your electric account and service-address details, equipment capacity and ratings, installation details and contractor information. Describe the heating system being replaced, whether it was removed or retained and whether a retained system is only a backup. State whether the heat pump covers every finished room (whole home) or only part of the home. Record any automatic controls that switch between the heat pump and fossil-fuel backup, their switch-over temperature, and any weatherization work.

Enclose all pages of a recent electric bill, the AHRI certificate from your contractor, and the contractor invoice showing installation date and address, capacity in BTUs, total installation cost and the outdoor unit’s model number.
