Whidbey Climate Fund

Grants of up to $5,000 for community projects that cut emissions or strengthen climate resilience on Whidbey Island.

Ez a lehetőség jelenleg angolul érhető el.

You can fund local work such as reducing transport or building emissions, reusing waste, improving local food systems or aquifer health, regenerating soil, restoring ecosystems, and educating the community about reducing its ecological footprint.

The grant is restricted to your programme or project and lasts one year. Project funds should be spent within a year of the award.

A climate advisory committee scores projects on credible methods and a compelling local case, whether the grant makes the project possible, measurable carbon reductions or ecosystem improvements, and effects that will not easily be undone. Bonus points reward visibility that encourages donors, benefits for communities most exposed to climate impacts, and multiple outcomes. The Whidbey Community Foundation board approves funding recommendations.

Recipients must provide a brief report of one or two paragraphs at the end of the grant term, covering what the funds paid for, challenges or changes, and successes. If available, the foundation also requests a project photo for publicity. Advisory committee members follow up by email or phone halfway through the term to discuss progress and stories to share.
