Efficient household appliance grant
Grants for Luzern residents and businesses replacing old household appliances with eligible energy-efficient models.
Questa opportunità è attualmente disponibile in inglese.
Replace an old appliance at a property in Canton Luzern with a model carrying the Topten label and appearing on its eligible product lists. The grant is paid per device to your nominated bank account. ewl funds the programme and Topten administers the claims.
The amount depends on the appliance and its energy-label class:
| Replacement appliance | Class and grant per device |
|---|---|
| Single-household tumble dryer | A: CHF 100; B: CHF 70 |
| Communal laundry-room tumble dryer | A: CHF 500; B: CHF 400; C: CHF 300 |
| Washer-dryer combination | A: CHF 100; B: CHF 70; C: CHF 50 |
| Dishwasher | A: CHF 70; B: CHF 50 |
| Refrigerator, fridge-freezer, upright freezer or chest freezer | A: CHF 100; B: CHF 70; C: CHF 50 |
| Extractor hood | A+++: CHF 70; A++: CHF 50; A+: CHF 50 |
Foodcenter refrigerators and fridge-freezers are excluded. The programme reduces electricity use through appliance replacement.
There is no legal entitlement to a grant. Duplicate funding is prohibited. Support is limited to 4,000 appliances each calendar year; if that quota is reached, the programme pauses and a notice is published on the ewl and Topten websites. ewl may also end the programme at any time.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be from Canton Luzern, and the new appliance must be installed there. Individuals, companies and property managers can apply; property owners and housing cooperatives are also covered. Individuals must live in the canton.
- Choose a Topten-labelled model on the eligible product lists and in a funded efficiency class shown above. The class is shown on the appliance's energy label.
- The purchase must be after 1 January 2026 and before 31 December 2027. Where order, delivery and payment dates differ, the order date determines eligibility.
- The appliance must replace an old device at a property in Canton Luzern. First-time purchases, including those for a newly acquired home, are excluded. Confirm that the old device was professionally disposed of; it must not continue to be used in Switzerland.
- You must allow access to the funded appliance for spot checks. You transfer the right to count the replacement's electricity savings exclusively to ewl, which may count them towards its statutory savings target or transfer that right to another party.
- The Swiss Federal Office of Energy (BFE), or its appointed body, may check compliance. Data may be passed to those bodies for that purpose; they must treat it confidentially and use it only for compliance checks.
- Grants obtained through false or incomplete information or failure to comply with the rules may be reclaimed and must then be repaid. Affected applicants may also be excluded from further funding programmes.
