Balcony solar grant
A one-off grant of €100 per solar module, up to €200, for eligible owners and tenants with their main residence in Amstetten.

The municipality supports plug-in solar systems installed on a roof, external wall or garden area at a building in Amstetten or one of its districts. These small systems generate solar electricity for the building.
Support is €100 per module, for at most two modules. The rules limit funding to two modules per property; for rented or owner-occupied flats, the limit is two per dwelling. The 2026 invitation also specifies a two-module limit per household/dwelling. Funding is a voluntary municipal payment within the available budget, with no entitlement to a grant.
Eligibility
- Applicants may be individuals or private-law legal entities who own or rent buildings or land and have their main residence in Amstetten. The installation must be in Amstetten or one of its districts.
- The system must have an output of at least 250 W and an inverter output of no more than 800 W. The inverter converts the panels’ electricity for use in the building. Eligible systems must have been installed on or after 1 April 2025.
- For a rented flat, obtain the landlord’s consent. For an owned flat, obtain the owners’ association’s consent. Attach the applicable consent to the application.
- Register the system in the Bundesnetzagentur’s Marktstammdatenregister, the national register of electricity-generating installations. The information sheet gives operators one month after commissioning to register.
- You must confirm that the installation is correct. Installation is at your own risk, and the municipality recommends consulting a qualified electrician. Its information sheet specifies that a registered installer must install the feed-in socket required by DIN VDE V 0628-1, and recommends checking whether the circuit can accept electricity from the system. The municipality does not provide technical advice.
- Installation must comply with public-law requirements even where no building-permit procedure is needed. A listed building requires heritage permission.

After installation and registration, complete the municipality’s application form. Attach the invoice, registration confirmation, a photo of the installed system, and the landlord’s or owners’ association’s consent where applicable. Confirm that the installation is correct and provide your bank details.
Email the form and attachments to balkonkraftwerk@amstetten.de. The municipality transfers an awarded grant to the bank account stated in the application.
