Charging grants for truck and bus depots

Build private or shared charging for heavy trucks and commercial buses at business premises, with grants of up to SEK 20 million per project.

Questa opportunità è attualmente disponibile in inglese.

The grant funds charging at premises where heavy vehicles are parked, load or unload goods, or pick up and drop off bus passengers. Access must be limited to one operator or a defined group; charging cannot be the vehicles' main reason for visiting. The station can be on the business property or an adjoining property functionally connected to it.

The standard grant is up to 40% of eligible costs. Projects in Sweden's designated regional-aid areas can receive up to 45%. A further 5% of the purchase cost of qualifying chargers or battery storage can be added under the equipment criteria below. The project ceiling is SEK 20 million. You finance the remaining costs and any overruns.

Eligible costs include charging equipment, installation, necessary grid connections and transformers, groundworks, permits and project staff. Battery-storage costs are eligible only up to SEK 10,000 per kW of eligible power. Power-supply investment is limited to the station's simultaneous maximum charging demand; excess capacity is apportioned out. Renewable generation, such as solar panels, is excluded even when it supplies the station.

Eligibility

Companies, public-sector actors and institutes connected to relevant companies can apply. Leasing companies can also apply, with the same operating obligations. You need the financial capacity to carry out the project. Companies need Swedish F-tax approval, confirming responsibility for their business taxes, or evidence of equivalent tax and fee controls in their home country. Companies in liquidation or bankruptcy, with tax, fee or other debts transferred to the Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden) and collected as public claims, or overdue Energy Agency grant repayments are excluded. A person with significant influence over the business must not be subject to a trading prohibition.

The station must be designed and primarily used for heavy trucks or buses. Eligible buses operate commercial services, including charter and tourist services. Charging infrastructure built because of a bus-service procurement, or designed for services operated under an awarded bus-service contract, is excluded. Mixed-use bus terminals can qualify where commercial buses are the primary users. At least one charging point is required, with the number justified by present or future demand. Every funded point must use direct current (DC) and meet the applicable EU standard at completion. If you do not own the land, attach written permission confirming your agreement with the owner.

Where other operators can use the station, give them non-discriminatory access, payment options and market-based prices. You must be able to share relevant charging or vehicle data and information about the project, and equip the points to publish information in real time. Keep the station operating for three years after completion; your obligation remains if it is transferred to someone else.

For the optional equipment supplement, chargers must show significant innovation or substantially better technical performance. Battery packs, modules and cells must originate outside China, and the battery must have grid-forming converters, equipment that helps establish the electricity network's voltage and frequency. Both battery conditions apply. Provide technical and origin evidence at final reporting; supplier declarations can replace customs evidence for goods originating inside the EU. Failure to meet criteria claimed for a ranking advantage can lead to full or partial repayment.

Work required by law or a permit cannot receive support. The same eligible costs or purpose cannot receive other public support. Apply before building, ordering equipment or making another irreversible commitment. Land purchases and preparatory permits or studies do not count as starting work, but pre-application costs are not funded.

  • Apply before starting work. Complete the project and put the station into operation by 30 September 2029.

Apply in Swedish through Energimyndigheten's Mina sidor portal, linked from the official page. Request access in advance; 30 September is the recommended last date to request it. Make one application per property, describing the site, vehicles, access, charging power, timetable, costs and your financing. Include the mandatory application appendix linked on the page, necessary site evidence and landowner permission where applicable.

Applications compete on requested support per new kW of simultaneous charging power. Existing DC capacity does not count as newly added capacity. The lowest-ranked 10% are rejected, and more can be rejected if the budget is exceeded. Qualifying equipment earns a ranking adjustment as well as possible additional support. Include any regional-aid increment in your requested amount, but do not add the equipment supplement yourself; the agency calculates it. You cannot later change the requested amount.

The award decision sets the payment plan. Up to 75% can be paid in advance; the balance follows completion and accepted cost reporting. A bankgiro or plusgiro must match the recipient's organisation number. Keep advance funds separate from your own money and send evidence of the transfer. Keep auditable project accounts and invoices in the recipient's name; final reporting needs an authorised auditor's certificate. Unused funds and funds used outside the award's purpose can have to be repaid.
