Building insulation grant

Canton UriSvizzera3K CHF e oltre

Grants for insulating older buildings in Uri, with a higher rate for insulation combined with integrated solar facades.

Questa opportunità è attualmente disponibile in inglese.

This entry covers building-envelope insulation (M-01) within Förderprogramm Energie Uri 2026. The grant pays CHF 60 per square metre of renovated external envelope, including roofs, facades and building parts against the ground. For insulated surfaces with integrated photovoltaic modules inclined at 60°–90°, the rate is CHF 400 per square metre. The modules must replace the outer weather-protection layer as part of the facade and must not be removable without impairing the building envelope’s main function or quality; attached panels do not qualify. All insulation conditions still apply. This higher rate cannot be combined with the winter-solar measure UR-06.

The minimum grant is CHF 3,000 per application. Grants cover at most 50% of the total energy-related investment. At CHF 10,000 or more, you must already have the GEAK Plus building-assessment report when applying. If your building category cannot have a GEAK Plus, submit a building analysis with recommended next steps prepared under the Swiss Federal Office of Energy specification instead.

Eligibility

  • The building must be in the canton of Uri and its building permit must have been issued before 2000. Canton-owned and federal buildings are excluded.
  • Insulate the external envelope of spaces that were heated before renovation. The external envelope of unheated spaces directly above or below heated rooms also qualifies. Partitions against unheated rooms and windows do not qualify. New extensions, extra storeys and wholly new building parts are excluded, but complete roof replacement in the same position is allowed.
  • The U-value measures heat passing through a building part: the post-renovation value must be at most 0.20 W/(m²·K) against outside air or ground to a depth of 2 metres, or 0.25 deeper underground. Flat roofs with a slope of up to 5° must achieve at most 0.15. The improvement must be at least 0.07 W/(m²·K). These requirements also apply to protected buildings.
  • The canton claims the supported CO₂ reductions. Measures already funded by other energy or climate programmes, renovations whose reductions are certified by the federal government, and company sites exempt from the CO₂ levy are excluded. Additional support in other fields, such as heritage preservation or noise protection, is permitted.

How to apply

Restrizioni del bando
  • 2026 programme; subject to available budget. Complete signed application must reach Amt für Energie before insulation work starts. No carry-over or waiting list.

Use the Building Programme online portal, then deliver the generated signed form and all required attachments to Amt für Energie before insulation work starts. Online submission alone is insufficient: the office must receive the complete signed application. Include before-work photos, costs or contractor quotations, measured area calculations and U-value evidence identifying the insulation materials. Include the GEAK Plus or alternative analysis from CHF 10,000; integrated PV also needs a module-layout plan. For the higher integrated-PV rate, enter the area of insulated facade that also forms the PV facade in the portal’s “Bemerkungen” (comments) field; there is no separate PV-area field. Starting after complete submission but before approval is at your own risk.

The complete signed completion form and attachments must reach Amt für Energie within three years of the award decision. A justified written request may extend this by up to two years. Include photos during and after work, invoices showing insulation type and thickness, and revised area or energy calculations if changed. Integrated PV also needs installation photos and a signed commissioning record. Payment follows receipt of the complete completion documents.

All renovation work must be finished when you report completion, and you must disclose changes from the application. Changed projects or failure to comply with applicable energy laws may reduce or cancel the grant. The canton can inspect documents and the completed work. Grants obtained unlawfully, including through false or incomplete information or breached programme conditions, must be repaid with interest.

Applications are accepted subject to the available budget; there is no entitlement, carry-over to later years or waiting list.
