Climate adaptation grant

Municipality of ErmeloPaesi Bassi35–500 EUR

A grant for adult homeowners and tenants in Ermelo who replace established garden paving with living greenery.

Questa opportunità è attualmente disponibile in inglese.

The 2026 climate adaptation scheme supports measures on private property to reduce flooding, drought and heat. This entry covers its de-paving and greening route: replace hard surfaces with grass, plants, shrubs, hedges or trees.

The municipality pays €10 per square metre, up to €500 per plot. You must request at least €35. For this measure alone, that corresponds to at least 3.5 m² of eligible paving removed. The amount is calculated from the area replaced, rather than as a percentage of your invoice.

Eligibility

  • You must be an adult individual living within Ermelo’s built-up area and own the property, or rent or lease it with the owner’s consent. The property must be legally built and recorded in the Dutch addresses and buildings register (BAG) with a residential or lodging use; the work must be on its associated plot, which must also be recorded in BAG.
  • Your plot must be inside Ermelo’s statutory built-up area (bebouwde kom), defined under article 20a of the Dutch Road Traffic Act 1994. Being within the municipal boundary alone is insufficient. Check this boundary on the municipality’s built-up-area map. The paving must demonstrably have been in place for at least one year. Creating a garden or other grounds, or part of either, for the first time is excluded.
  • Buy materials no more than six months before completing the work. Apply only after completion, within six months. You may submit one application per property, per measure category, per calendar year.
  • Carry out the work properly, comply with applicable law and obtain any necessary permits. You must keep the funded greenery in place and maintain it permanently. Replacement, repair or expansion of an existing measure is excluded. You must provide information and cooperate with any spot check, including a site visit.
  • No double subsidy is available where another scheme has already provided the entire amount requested for the same activity. The municipality may refuse commercial or profit-making activities. If a refusal ground is discovered after award, the grant is revoked and recovered; promptly notify the municipality in writing if you cannot meet the grant obligations.

How to apply

Restrizioni del bando
  • Apply after completion, within six months; complete applications take priority until the annual budget is reached.[^c7][^c9][^c11]

Complete the work, then apply through Gemeente Ermelo’s online de-paving and greening form within six months of completion. Submit the completed, signed form, an invoice in your name with the measure description and purchase or execution date, readable proof of the planting purchase, before-and-after photographs clearly showing the property or plot, and a drawing identifying the area replaced and its square metres. Include any required permit. Tenants and leaseholders need written owner consent; if the dwelling forms part of an owners’ association (VvE), include written consent from the owner or participants in that association.

Complete applications are handled in order of arrival until the annual budget is reached. If you supply missing information later, the date your application becomes complete determines its priority. Applications completed on the same day may be drawn by lot if the budget cannot cover them all; an award cannot exceed the remaining budget.

The municipality decides within eight weeks of a complete application and may extend this once by four weeks. It awards and finalises the grant together, then pays within four weeks.
