Residential storage water-heater rebate
A $600 rebate helps household electricity customers install efficient electric water heaters that store hot water for use during the day.

You can claim the rebate for new construction or an upgrade to an existing home. Choose payment as a credit to your electricity account or a check. One rebate is allowed per application.
The storage programme heats water during off-peak hours, typically 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., so the tank stores hot water for the rest of the day. With either the separately metered or general-service option, you allow the cooperative to control when the heater heats water for 16 hours each day. For the separately metered option, a contractor must install a separate panel wired to a separate meter.
Eligibility
- The installation address must have a valid Itasca-Mantrap account and receive electricity from the cooperative within its service territory.
- Buy a new high-efficiency water heater and install it on or after 1 January 2026. Its energy factor must be at least 0.90, and you must supply proof of this efficiency rating.
- Enrol the heater in the storage water-heating control programme. Total combined capacity must be at least 100 gallons. This can combine multiple heaters or include a mixing valve added to a larger heater; verify the arrangement with Itasca-Mantrap before purchase and installation.

Complete and sign the storage water-heater rebate form, including your account number. Provide proof of efficiency and a copy of the original dated sales receipt. Submit the complete claim within 90 days of purchase; incomplete forms are not processed. The cooperative provides an online rebate form, and the form also instructs postal submission to Itasca-Mantrap, PO Box 192, Park Rapids, MN 56470.
