Energy-efficiency rebates
Rebates for members installing an ENERGY STAR ground-source heat pump for residential heating and cooling in the cooperative’s service territory.
Questa opportunità è attualmente disponibile in inglese.
The residential rebate programme includes ground-source heat pumps, also called geothermal heat pumps, for home heating and cooling.
Steele-Waseca Co-op Electric (SWCE) pays $100 per ton of heat-pump capacity. Here, a ton measures heating or cooling capacity, rather than equipment weight: one ton equals 12,000 Btuh. The rebate cannot exceed half the equipment cost, so the payment is limited to the lower of the capacity-based amount and 50% of that cost.
Eligibility
- You must have a valid SWCE member account, and the qualifying equipment must be installed at that account’s address within SWCE’s service territory. The application accommodates homeowners, renters, landlords, builders and other member types.
- The ground-source heat pump must be ENERGY STAR listed and meet the applicable minimum efficiency requirements. SWCE requires it to be on the current ENERGY STAR rated-product list as of the purchase date.
- Record the manufacturer, model, heating and cooling capacity, and rated heating efficiency (coefficient of performance, COP) and cooling efficiency (energy efficiency ratio, EER) on the form. State whether this is new construction, replacement after failure or early replacement; for replacement, identify the existing unit using the form’s ground-source heat-pump or electric-heat-with-split-system-air-conditioning options. Record the replacement system’s loop configuration too.
- The form marks the $100-per-ton ground-source heat-pump rebate with a contractor-information requirement, labelled “GSHP master installer rebates”. Provide the contractor’s name, company, city, state and signature. All rebated equipment is subject to SWCE inspection and verification.
