Coup de pouce Chauffage
Financial help for owners and tenants in France to replace fossil-fuel heating, paid by participating energy sellers and other charter signatories.

Coup de pouce Chauffage is a grant, not a loan. Participating companies pay towards qualifying heating replacement through France’s energy-saving certificate scheme (CEE): they support the work and receive certificates for the recognised energy savings. You may receive a bank transfer, cheque, deduction from the installation invoice or shopping vouchers, depending on the offer.
It supports replacing a coal, oil or gas boiler with a qualifying wood-fuelled biomass boiler, air-to-water or water/brine-to-water heat pump, combined solar heating and hot-water system, or connection to a heat network. It also supports replacing a separate coal heater with a wood heater.
There is no fixed award: compare offers from participating companies. The amount depends on the work and household resources, with more help for lower-income households. Historic minimum bonuses no longer apply to work committed to from 1 January 2026.
Only one CEE bonus can be claimed for the same operation; it cannot be combined with ADEME aid or another CEE offer for that operation. Additional combination exclusions apply: the heat-pump operation cannot be combined with CEE operations for solar water heating, combined solar systems, heat-pump water heaters or solar thermal devices. The combined solar operation cannot be combined with CEE operations for these heat pumps or a biomass boiler.
Eligibility
Owners and tenants can qualify at any income level. The home must be more than two years old; tenants need their landlord’s permission for the work.
- Heat pumps: the home must be a main residence. Water-to-water or brine-to-water models are for individual houses; air-to-water models also cover apartments. The pump must heat the home, not just hot water, and cannot be associated with another heating system. Its seasonal heating-efficiency figure on the product information must reach 126% under the low-temperature test or 111% under the medium/high-temperature test. These are equipment tests, not thermostat settings: for heating-only systems, underfloor, wall or ceiling heating and water fan coils use the 35°C low-temperature test. Radiators, including those sold as low-temperature, mixed systems and all systems also producing domestic hot water use the 55°C medium/high-temperature test. The installer must size the pump to the home’s heat losses.
- For heat-pump quotations accepted from 1 September 2026, the exact model must hold State approval on that date. Check it using ADEME’s model lookup before accepting the quotation; meeting the technical efficiency requirement alone is not enough.
- Combined solar heating and hot water: an individual house in metropolitan France, used as a main residence, with low-temperature central heating. At least 8 m² of collectors and more than 400 litres of solar hot-water storage are required. Collectors must meet the certification and performance rules, including output of at least 600 W/m²; panels producing both electricity and heat are excluded. Since 1 September 2026, the resulting heating and/or hot-water system must not include any installed or retained equipment capable of using fossil fuels.
- Biomass boilers and separate wood heaters: individual houses, including second homes. A biomass boiler must burn wood-based fuel and be no larger than 70 kW. Automatic boilers need a fuel silo of at least 225 litres; manually fed boilers need a buffer tank. Equipment must meet the applicable efficiency and emissions rules, not simply burn wood.
- Heat-network connection: an individual house used as a main residence. It must not have been connected to a heat network during the five years before commitment to the new connection, such as acceptance of its quotation. No earlier connection may have been the subject of a CEE application, even if that application did not result in support. The network must meet the programme’s legal standard for an efficient heat network under Energy Code article L.711-4.
The equipment must meet the relevant technical sheet linked from the ministry programme page. Use an RGE-qualified installer for heat pumps, biomass, wood and solar equipment: RGE is the contractor qualification required for these energy-renovation works. Network connections must be carried out by a professional.

- For heat pumps, biomass boilers and combined solar systems, accept the installation quotation or otherwise commit to the work by 31 December 2030, inclusive. This is not the work-completion deadline.[^c14][^c35]
- For an independent wood heater, accept the installation quotation or otherwise commit to the work before 1 October 2027, when its technical sheet is repealed. This is not the work-completion deadline.[^c14][^c36]
- Use the ministry programme page’s list of charter signatories to compare the offers for your chosen work. Each company sets out its offer and claim procedure; provide your tax notice or other income evidence when requested.
- Accept the bonus offer before signing the installation quotation. Obtain the written offer document. For a heat pump, first check the model’s State approval in ADEME’s lookup.
- Sign the contractor’s quotation and have the work carried out. For equipment installations, the invoice must identify the removed equipment and its fuel, and document the required installed-equipment performance. For heat pumps, the approval number must appear on the invoice and the declaration signed by the professional and countersigned by you.
- For a heat-network connection, provide the heat-supply contract signed with the network operator as completion evidence. The completion date is the contract’s effective date or the first heat-delivery date stated in it. The relevant contract extracts must identify the parties and signatures, the dates, the address and the number of homes served.
- Send the applicable supporting documents, including invoices and signed declarations for equipment installations or the required contract extracts for a network connection, to the charter signatory or its partner within the deadlines in your offer.
