Green-roof grant
Owners and tenants can receive €25/m², up to €1,000, for installing a green roof on a home or apartment in Ieper.

The city pays a grant towards an extensively planted roof: a roof with succulents, moss or herbs over drainage, growing-medium and vegetation layers across the entire installed area. Green roofs buffer rainwater and support biodiversity.
The grant is €25 per square metre, capped at €1,000. All public assistance combined, including local, Flemish, federal and European support, must not exceed the invoice amount. Payment depends on the available municipal budget.
Eligibility
- The property must be a private home or apartment in Ieper. An apartment means an individual dwelling in a multi-unit building. Owners can apply; tenants need the owner’s written permission. Renovation of buildings more than two years old and building or rebuilding a home are eligible for this green-roof grant.
- Install at least 6 m² of green roof per application. Each roof can receive this grant only once.
- The works must comply with the law, with an environmental permit where required. A green roof imposed as a condition of that permit is excluded.
- Keep the roof in good condition for at least ten years. These duties continue when ownership changes. Repair failed planting or defective work; otherwise the grant will be recovered. If the regulation is not followed, payment is withheld or an already paid grant is recovered. You must allow the city to inspect the work.
- This route covers invoices dated from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2031. The invoice for the supplied work and goods must be issued to the applicant.

- Submit within twelve months of the invoice date. This route covers invoices dated 1 January 2026–31 December 2031. The regulation runs through 31 December 2031. Payment is limited by the municipal budget.
Apply to Stad Ieper through its digital green-roof application form after the work, within twelve months of the invoice date. Submit the completed form with an invoice showing the installed square metres and a plan of the roof as built. The city checks the installation.
