PowerSavers insulation and air-sealing rebate
Rebates for air sealing and attic or wall insulation in existing, electrically heated homes served by Thief River Falls Municipal Utilities.
Denne finansieringsmuligheten er foreløpig beskrevet på engelsk.
PowerSavers supports energy-saving home improvements through participating Minnkota Power Cooperative and Northern Municipal Power Agency utilities. This entry covers the Thief River Falls Municipal Utilities customer route.
The 2026 form lists these rebates. Amounts may vary by utility, so confirm the applicable incentive with Thief River Falls Municipal Utilities before submitting your claim.
- Air sealing alone: 30% of sealing costs, up to $300.
- Attic insulation with air sealing: 30% of insulation costs, up to $500.
- Wall insulation: 30% of insulation costs, up to $500.
If you install the materials yourself, the rebate calculation uses material costs only. Across the programme, incentives are limited to $10,000 per customer per year and no more than 50% of project costs. An incentive above $5,000 requires written approval before installation and an inspection before payment.
Eligibility
- The home must be served by Thief River Falls Municipal Utilities and use electric heat as its primary heating source.
- Only existing-home upgrades qualify. Homes built within the last two years, garages, sheds and workshops are excluded. For work in a leased building, the lease term must be at least five years.
- For air sealing alone, submit blower test results from before and after the work.
- For attic insulation, improve the existing insulation from R-30 or lower to R-50 and seal all accessible attic air leaks. R-value is the insulation rating used in the form to compare the condition before and after installation. Attic insulation alone earns no rebate. The attic row also requires attic knee walls to be insulated to a minimum of R-25 up to R-30.
- For wall insulation, improve from R-5 or less to R-11 or higher. Attic knee walls do not qualify under the wall-insulation rebate.
- Follow applicable federal, state and local codes and the programme specifications. Installation must be complete before you apply. You can receive only one programme incentive per piece of qualifying equipment, and must allow verification, which may include a site inspection.
- Use new equipment or new retrofit components; used or rebuilt equipment is ineligible. Where replacing existing equipment, remove it or disconnect it permanently.

Complete the project by 31 December 2026. Within 60 calendar days of completion, deliver the original signed application and itemized invoices for materials and labour to Thief River Falls Municipal Utilities, PO Box 528, Thief River Falls, MN 56701. For eligibility questions, call (218) 681-5816.
Include complete purchase details: purchase date, size, type, make, model and total project cost.
