EV chargepoint grant for residential landlords
Residential landlords can get 75% towards buying and installing electric-vehicle chargepoints at UK properties, up to £500 per socket and 200 sockets a year.

Your installer deducts the grant from your invoice and claims payment from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). You pay the remaining cost rather than receiving the grant as cash.
The 200-socket annual limit applies to the whole group if organisations are linked through ownership or controlled by the same people, not separately to each organisation. The number installed must also be reasonable for your needs.
This is the residential chargepoint grant. The separate residential landlord infrastructure grant and commercial landlord chargepoint grant closed to applications on 31 March 2026.
You must cooperate with audits, including requests for documents and site visits. OZEV may withhold or reclaim the grant if you do not.
Eligibility
- You must own or manage residential property or its communal areas. Eligible applicants include landlords with property to let; right to manage and residents’ management companies; freeholders of multi-unit properties; companies owning common areas; public-sector landlords; charities managing or owning homes; registered social housing providers; property managers acting for landlords; and property factors in Scotland. You must be a business registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC.
- The property must be in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. The Channel Islands and Isle of Man are excluded. Houses, flats and apartment blocks qualify, but you cannot live in the property, and holiday-only accommodation and non-residential properties are excluded.
- Each parking space must be private, off-street, clearly defined and accessible to your tenant. It can be separate from the property, but you must own it or have the legal right to use it. Obtain proof of all rights and permissions before work begins, including for cables crossing other land. Your installer checks that charging is safe.
- Use an OZEV-authorised installer and an eligible residential chargepoint. You cannot fund an already-installed chargepoint or an installation required by building regulations or a planning condition. Infrastructure already funded by another grant, and replacement of grant-funded infrastructure, are excluded.
- Your business must be trading: it must not be insolvent or dissolved, going through a process that could lead to either, or expecting to stop trading.
- Authorised installers, installer representatives and businesses in which they or their directors have an interest cannot apply. Their directors and employees may apply for a property only if the installation is done by a business in which they have no financial, operational or other interest or involvement.

- Do not install the chargepoint before OZEV confirms you are eligible.
- The government may end or change the scheme.
- Get a quote from an OZEV-authorised installer. Before applying, complete any necessary electrical-supply upgrades, arrange regular chargepoint maintenance checks, decide who pays electricity and running costs, ensure accessibility and update the property’s risk assessment.
- Select ‘Start new application’ on the official Find a grant page and create an account. Complete and submit the form with your own contact details; your installer must not submit it for you. All applicants need an installer quote, with supporting documents in the name of the registered business or organisation applying.
- Supply the evidence for your situation: multi-unit freeholders need the land registry title; private landlords and charities letting property need a current, dated insurance policy showing the address and rental use. For a right to manage or residents’ management company, the person applying must be listed on Companies House and provide proof of their appointment. Property managers need their appointment letter or agreement and the relevant landlord evidence. Public-sector landlords and registered social housing providers only need the quote. Scottish property factors unable to provide the specified evidence should contact OZEV at ozev.enquiries@ozev.gov.uk for application instructions.
- Wait for OZEV to notify you and your installer that you are eligible. Do not install the chargepoint before that notification. Follow the terms and installation instructions in the approval email.
- After installation, your installer deducts the grant from your invoice and claims it from OZEV, submitting chargepoint details, photographs and the invoice. OZEV pays the installer if it approves the claim.
