Project Track supports the first project of its kind, other early commercial facilities, groups of commercial installations, and projects that bring the technology into a new geographic market. The funding and coaching help the company complete practical project-development and deployment milestones, and projects typically last 12 to 18 months.
Elemental sets the amount and terms case by case. It may invest for an immediate ownership stake, lend money that the company must repay, or use an agreement that can later convert into company ownership. One Project Track option is the Development-SAFE (D-SAFE): Elemental says the company can choose repayment like a loan, or the investor can choose conversion into an ownership stake. The agreement links payments to one or more performance milestones.
Eligibility
Project Track is designed for companies at Series A or later. The published fit is a company with an operating prototype, at least three full-time employees and a specific first-of-a-kind or early commercial project that Elemental can help move forward.
Your company must:
- be an independent, for-profit company;
- have a novel business model or technology that can deliver substantial environmental and local benefits;
- have at least three full-time employees; and
- have an operating prototype.
Strong applications tend to demonstrate product-market fit—evidence that the product meets a real customer need—and identify a specific project that Elemental’s funding and services can accelerate. This is a preference for strong applications, not an additional eligibility requirement.
Consulting firms, nonprofits and acquired startups are not eligible.
Companies can be based anywhere and do not need to relocate. The chief executive and at least one other leadership team member must take part in all programme elements during the company’s first two years in the portfolio, including in-person events held during the year.
