Green mortgage for an energy-efficient home
A mortgage for individuals buying a home that meets specified energy-performance standards, with up to 90% financing and a term of up to 30 years.
Denne finansieringsmuligheten er foreløpig beskrevet på engelsk.
Citadele lends money to buy an energy-efficient residential home. You repay the loan and interest each month under the agreed payment schedule. Interest is calculated on money paid out and still unpaid.
The bank can finance up to 90% of the lower of the property’s market value and purchase price. The final amount and interest rate depend on the bank’s assessment. The term can be up to 30 years, with an option to pay only interest for 12 months; the loan principal remains repayable under your agreed schedule.
For new-build homes bought from property developers, the contract fee is waived until 31 December 2026. This promotion does not remove notary, valuation or property-insurance costs.
You can repay early with at least three bank working days’ notice, unless Citadele agrees to shorten or waive that notice. The early repayment must be at least the contractual loan amount divided by the months remaining until final repayment. There is no early-repayment compensation when the interest rate is variable; fixed-interest repayment may attract compensation calculated under Lithuanian law. Partial early repayment normally reduces instalments while leaving the final repayment date unchanged, unless you agree otherwise in writing. Previously paid fees are not refunded, and repaid money cannot be borrowed again under this agreement.
If you are a consumer under Lithuanian law, the contract allows withdrawal within 14 calendar days of the agreement taking effect. Notify Citadele in writing or through internet banking, giving the contract details and repayment date. The notice is irrevocable. Repay the money received, interest accrued until repayment and any applicable loan-reservation fee within 30 days of sending the notice; the bank does not reimburse your related property, notary or insurance costs. For joint borrowers, withdrawal applies to everyone and the other borrowers must be informed immediately.
Eligibility
- Buy a residential home. For homes built before 2021, the energy class must be at least A. For homes built from 2021 onward, it must be A++, and the home’s primary energy demand must be at least 10% below the requirement for a nearly zero-energy building. A++ alone is therefore insufficient for this newer-home route. Energy-performance certificates are listed in the Construction Sector Development Agency (SSVA) register.
- Citadele assesses your income and ability to repay. It does not lend to unemployed applicants. Third-country nationals must provide a permit for permanent residence in Lithuania, alongside identification and the application.
- This mortgage is unavailable if you intend to use state financial-support measures.
- Pledge property acceptable to Citadele as security. Keep the required property insurance in force throughout the agreement; land is exempt, and unfinished buildings have the exception below. Name Citadele as the recipient of payouts under that property insurance. The insurer and terms must be agreed with the bank; another insurer is allowed if its coverage is equivalent. Failure to meet the loan agreement can lead to loss of the mortgaged property.
- An unfinished building may remain uninsured while its roof is uncovered and it has neither windows nor doors. Until construction is complete, the insured amount may be lower than the building’s completed value. During construction, reconstruction or repairs, cover may be limited to fire and natural disasters. The policy must provide full cover for all risks required by Citadele once the work is complete and the building is used for its intended purpose.
- Obtain the bank’s prior written agreement before selling, transferring or renting the collateral, or carrying out construction, reconstruction or repairs to it.
- For a mortgaged flat or one- or two-family house financed for purchase, provide proof of 100% completion within 12 months after Citadele pays out the final part of the loan, together with an energy certificate or register extract where legally required.
- If you borrow jointly, Citadele can require either borrower to pay the whole debt, including interest and fees.

- Subject to Citadele’s creditworthiness and property assessment.
Apply through Citadele’s online mortgage application. Both existing customers and customers of other banks can apply. Sign with mobile signature or qualified Smart-ID Advanced; Smart-ID Basic cannot sign the application. If you cannot use the online authentication methods, book a visit to a Citadele branch and bring a bank statement showing your regular income for the last six months.
Provide identification, consent for the bank’s creditworthiness checks and the requested income and property documents. Self-employed applicants must also provide supporting income documents, including the preceding two years’ declarations, the current-year declaration and 12–24 months of account statements. A bank employee will discuss your needs, request any further documents and arrange the lending decision.
After approval, become a Citadele customer, open the loan-servicing account and sign the loan agreement. The mortgage is signed before a notary and registered with the Centre of Registers. The bank pays out the loan once registration is complete and all required documents have been submitted.
