Borrow for home solar installation as an MIT FCU member in Massachusetts or New Hampshire, using an approved contractor.

MIT Federal Credit Union lends money for your home solar system, which you repay with interest over the loan term. Its advertised term is 84 months, with a 9.00% annual percentage rate (APR) and a listed payment of $16.09 per $1,000 borrowed. The rate assumes a highly qualified credit applicant; your creditworthiness can change your rate, and advertised rates can change.
Eligibility
- You must be an MIT FCU member in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.
- Use an NRG-qualified and approved contractor from ownmysolar.com.
- Membership serves MIT employees, students, alumni, faculty and staff, and selected Cambridge and Lexington businesses. Check the eligible companies and groups in the membership application. Qualifying members’ family members and housemates can also join.
- Start membership with a Basic Savings account and $5. There are no membership or monthly fees.

If you need to join, use MIT FCU’s membership application. U.S. citizens and U.S. resident aliens aged 18 or over can open an account online. Have U.S.-issued identification, your Social Security number, and another U.S. bank account’s checking and routing numbers to fund the account. Provide your previous address if you have lived at your current address for less than two years.
International applicants use the online form to download an application, then return it by email, fax, branch delivery or mail to MIT FCU, 70 Westview St., Lexington, MA 02421.
