Smart Charge Rebate
Up to $500 for a qualifying home electric-vehicle charger and electrical installation at a home with a residential EWEB electric account.
Denne finansieringsmuligheten er foreløpig beskrevet på engelsk.
The rebate helps pay for a Level 2 home charging setup, which uses 240 volts and allows faster charging and more flexibility to charge off peak. The payment cannot exceed your eligible hardware and installation costs, and there is one rebate per residential electric account.
If you already own a qualifying portable Level 2 charger, the cost of installing a new 240-volt outlet for it may qualify. An outlet without qualifying charging equipment is ineligible. For a charger supplied with an electric vehicle or already owned, only installation costs may qualify.
Adding electrical load can bring separate utility costs. EWEB applies its Transformation Fee when substantial load increases require a meter or main-breaker upgrade; an upgrade above 200 amps attracts the fee. As of 1 August 2026, it is $4.31 per added amp of main-breaker capacity: upgrading from 200 to 320 amps costs $517.20. Upgrading from 100 to 200 amps does not attract this fee, nor does a load increase within the current meter size. If the extra load requires upgrades to equipment serving only your property, such as service conductors, the responsible customer or property owner pays those costs.
Eligibility
- You must have authority to direct and install the home charging setup. It must be at premises with a residential EWEB electric account in its Oregon service area. Existing homes and new construction can qualify.
- Hardwired and portable chargers can qualify. The charger must be Level 2 (240 volts) and listed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, such as UL or ETL; check that the charger has this laboratory listing. Buying from the referenced PlugStar charger list is not required.
- Electrical work must be permitted, inspected and approved under the National Electric Code and applicable local, county and state rules. You are responsible for compliance. EWEB recommends a licensed electrician; do-it-yourself work still needs a permit.
- The purchase cost of a resold, rebuilt, warranty-replacement or prize charger is excluded. Installation may still qualify if the charger meets the programme requirements. Chargers supplied with a vehicle or already owned must be Level 2 (240 volts), and only installation costs may qualify.
- A circuit-sharing device, also called a splitter, can be considered individually. It must be new, certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory and use a NEMA-compliant charging connector.
