Energy-efficiency rebates

Corn Belt EnergyIllinois

Residential electricity members can receive a rebate for replacing a non-Wi-Fi thermostat with an approved Wi-Fi model in an existing home.

Denne finansieringsmuligheten er foreløpig beskrevet på engelsk.

This entry covers the Wi-Fi thermostat route offered through Corn Belt Energy and the POWER MOVES programme of Wabash Valley Power Alliance. The rebate is $75 per thermostat, for up to five units. It is paid by check or bill credit, as the local cooperative decides.

Payment cannot exceed 75% of total project cost, excluding your own installation labor. The programme also limits all residential incentives combined to $10,000 per membership per year. Funds are limited and applications are considered first come, first served, subject to approval. Incentives and programme rules can change or end without notice.

Eligibility

  • You must be a residential member of Corn Belt Energy, and the installation must be on the cooperative account entered in your application. Its service territory covers parts of 18 counties in Central Illinois.
  • Install a new thermostat in an existing home, replacing a non-Wi-Fi thermostat. It must control central air conditioning or a heat pump. New construction and used or rebuilt equipment are excluded. You may install it yourself or use a professional.
  • Only the approved models listed on page 2 of the 2026 application qualify: ecobee3, ecobee3 Lite, ecobee4, ecobee Smart and ecobee SmartThermostat with voice control; Honeywell Home Wi-Fi Smart Color, Wi-Fi 7-Day Programmable, Wi-Fi 9000 7-Day Programmable, 9000 Smart, 7-Day Programmable Smart, VisionPro 8000 Smart, Round Smart, T5+, T6 Pro Smart, T9 Smart and T10 Smart thermostats; and Nest Thermostat, Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E. Sensi and Amazon Smart Thermostat models are excluded.
  • Equipment must be purchased, installed and operational between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and operating before you submit the application.
  • Allow reasonable access for requested inspections before and after installation. After a post-installation inspection, supply any additional information requested within 30 days of the request; failure may cause rejection. If a requested inspection finds that you or your contractor breached programme rules, return the incentive within 60 days of notice. A separate inspection for programme evaluation does not affect the incentive received.
  • Authorize access to your electricity usage information for evaluation and analysis, and sharing of your name, address, phone number and equipment information with participating cooperatives to verify eligibility. You are responsible for any tax liability. The programme does not guarantee equipment performance or a particular level of energy or cost savings.
