Energy efficiency and electrification rebates
Rebates for residential and commercial SMPA members installing eligible heat pumps at their member account location.
Denne finansieringsmuligheten er foreløpig beskrevet på engelsk.
The heat-pump route covers outdoor-mounted air-source, air-to-water and ground-source systems. The application includes replacement heating systems and new construction.
For air-source systems up to and including 1.5 tons (18,000 BTU), the stated rebate is $500 per ton. Larger air-source systems have a stated rebate of $1,500. Air-to-water and ground-source systems receive $500 per ton. The payment is the lower of the stated rebate and 50% of equipment cost, with a maximum of $20,000 per heat-pump project. SMPA calculates its rebate after deducting all other available incentives, except tax credits.
SMPA sends a rebate check in the applicant/member’s name to the mailing address held on their account. Only complete, qualifying applications receive payment. Allow 90 days for processing; submitting a claim does not guarantee a rebate.
Eligibility
- You must be a current San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) member. Permanently install the heat pump at your member account location within SMPA territory.
- The system must have at least 1 ton (12,000 BTU/hour) of rated capacity. Its seasonal heating efficiency rating must be at least 8.5 HSPF2 or 10 HSPF. HSPF and HSPF2 are the heating seasonal performance factors shown on the application; the form asks for the applicable rating.
- The heat pump must meet ENERGY STAR version 6.1 and have an AHRI certification number and certificate. These document the equipment’s required certification; upload the certificate with your claim.
- There is one rebate per category per year and one heat-pump installation per account per year.
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local rules and codes. SMPA may inspect the installation, and rebates over $1,000 will be scheduled for inspection. Programme terms can change.
