Property-tax relief for solar electricity

Ayuntamiento de Pozuelo de AlarcónSpanjesluit 31 dec 2026

IBI taxpayers with a qualifying first solar electricity installation at an urban residential property in Pozuelo de Alarcón can receive a 50% reduction in the annual property-tax charge.

Deze mogelijkheid is momenteel in het Engels beschikbaar.

This entry covers photovoltaic panels installed for self-consumption under the solar rules for claims submitted through 31 December 2026. IBI (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles) is the municipal property tax. The reduction is 50% of its full annual charge on the residential property. Installing both solar thermal and electricity systems does not increase that percentage.

The benefit runs for the three tax years following completion of the installation. Apply in the completion year to receive all three years. A later claim takes effect in the following tax year and gives only the years remaining in that original period. The completion date is the date on the low-voltage electrical installation certificate.

This reduction cannot be added to other IBI reductions: when more than one applies, the largest is used.

Eligibility

  • You must be the IBI taxpayer for an urban residential property in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid. This entry covers individuals and legal persons liable through ownership or another taxable property right, such as usufruct (the right to use and benefit from the property), a right to build on another person’s land or an administrative concession.
  • The installation must be the property’s first solar installation for self-consumption. Later extensions, improvements and replacements do not qualify. A system that you are legally required to install does not qualify.
  • The system must supply at least 50% of the relevant energy. The technician must substantiate estimated electricity production against the home’s consumption over the 12 months before installation; the production-to-consumption ratio must be at least 50%.
  • This entry covers installations with a granted municipal licence. Pay the urban-planning authorisation fee and the construction, installation and works tax (ICIO) by the time you apply.
  • You must be up to date with municipal tax and non-tax debts on 1 January of the benefit year. Debts outstanding on that date can be settled before 31 January. If relief is denied for unpaid debts, you must apply again for later years.

Voorwaarden voor deze aanvraagronde
  • Apply after installation completion and before the original three-tax-year benefit period ends. Claims take effect the following tax year; later filing does not restart the benefit period.[^c3][^c8]
  • The current solar rules apply to submissions through 31 December 2026.[^c12]

After completing the installation, submit your claim to Ayuntamiento de Pozuelo de Alarcón before the original three-year benefit period ends. This current solar application route covers submissions through 31 December 2026. Use the solar claim form and identify the taxpayer and property by the tax reference, cadastral reference or address; attach proof of representation if someone acts for you.

Attach the project or technical memorandum and a competent technician’s declaration demonstrating the technical requirements, with professional-association endorsement or proof of technical authorisation. Also supply the low-voltage electrical installation certificate, proof of submission of commissioning documents to the Comunidad de Madrid, the responsible technician’s professional credentials, estimated output and a certificate of the home’s previous 12 months of consumption supporting the 50% test.

Apply through the municipal electronic register using the procedure page’s “Tramitar” button.
