WPCCU lends you money for a solar installation, which you repay with interest through monthly loan payments. The loan has a fixed rate. Windows, doors, heating and cooling equipment (HVAC), lighting, batteries and roofing can be included as part of the solar installation.
The solar rate schedule effective 1 July 2026 lists annual percentage rates (APR) from 6.49% for 12 years, 6.99% for 15 years and 7.49% for 20 years. Your actual rate depends on your credit score and ability to pay; rates may change. WPCCU’s example of USD 35,000 at 6.49% over 12 years has 144 monthly payments of USD 350, excluding some fees and costs.
The fee schedule lists USD 175 for a solar loan UCC filing and USD 175 for UCC termination, fees for registering the loan under the Uniform Commercial Code and later closing that registration.
Eligibility
- The property must be in California, owner-occupied and contain no more than four units. The primary applicant must own it.
- You must provide a valid solar contract and permit. The loan requires credit approval.
- WPCCU membership is required. You can join if you live, work, worship or attend post-secondary school in Los Angeles County. You must keep USD 25 in your primary savings account.
- If you design, buy and install your own system, you must follow local building codes. Some manufacturers require a certified installer for their warranty.
