Heat pump rebates
Rebates for Minnesota homes and businesses installing efficient air-source, air-to-water or geothermal heat pumps at premises supplied by Otter Tail Power Company.
Deze mogelijkheid is momenteel in het Engels beschikbaar.
Heat pumps move heat to warm or cool a building. These Minnesota rebates are calculated using the system’s capacity in tons, rather than its purchase price alone.
- Standard air-source heat pumps: $300 per ton, for either ducted or ductless systems.
- Cold-climate air-source heat pumps: $600 per ton for ductless systems and $800 per ton for ducted systems.
- Air-to-water heat pumps: $800 per ton. Adding a buffer tank with heating coils for domestic hot-water preheating brings an additional $200 per ton of the associated heat pump, limited to 20 tons.
- Geothermal heat pumps: $1,200 per ton for residential customers and $900 per ton for commercial customers. A desuperheater connected to preheat domestic hot water brings an additional $200 per ton of the associated heat pump, limited to 20 tons.
Each of these types can receive an additional $200 per ton when installed by a certified contractor approved for Otter Tail’s Quality installation programme. Eligible bonuses can be combined with the base rebate. Total standard air-source, cold-climate and air-to-water rebates cannot exceed 75% of project cost; geothermal rebates cannot exceed 50%.
Eligibility
Install new equipment at a Minnesota location where Otter Tail Power Company supplies electricity. The customer form includes homeowners, landlords and renters; the programme also offers commercial heat-pump rebates.
Check the equipment’s efficiency ratings with your contractor and supply the required certificate or specification sheet. SEER2 and HSPF2 are the seasonal cooling and heating efficiency ratings used to qualify air-source equipment; COP and EER are the performance ratings used for other heat-pump types. The qualifying ratings are:
- Standard air-source: SEER2 at least 14.3 and HSPF2 at least 7.5.
- Cold-climate air-source: SEER2 at least 16.0 and HSPF2 at least 8.0, whether ducted or ductless.
- Air-to-water: COP at least 1.7 at A5W110F, meaning an outdoor air temperature of 5°F and supply-water temperature of 110°F.
- Geothermal: an ENERGY STAR label, or the qualifying COP and EER pair for your system. Water-to-air open-loop systems require 4.1 COP and 21.1 EER; water-to-air closed-loop systems require 3.6 and 17.1. Water-to-water open-loop systems require 3.5 and 20.1; water-to-water closed-loop systems require 3.1 and 16.1. Direct-exchange systems can qualify with ratings of at least 3.6 COP and 16.1 EER. A single geothermal unit of at least six tons can qualify at 3.1 COP and 13.0 EER.
You must confirm that the equipment is installed at the stated address and allow an Otter Tail representative to inspect it if requested. Application acceptance does not guarantee payment. Programmes may be modified or discontinued.
