Grant for adding customers to existing heat networks
An investment grant for businesses and organisations adding up to 25 customer connections to existing biomass, geothermal or industrial-waste-heat networks in Austria.
Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.
You can fund new customer connections along existing heat-network pipe routes. Each connection must have a rated heat capacity of no more than 100 kW. Eligible costs include the heat transfer station (the equipment passing network heat to the customer), pipes, excavation, planning and installation.
The grant is paid once and does not normally need to be repaid. It provides €4,000 per connection up to and including 50 kW, or €6,000 per connection above 50 kW and up to and including 100 kW. The combined grant cannot exceed 35% of eligible material, installation and planning costs. Provincial grants can be combined with this support.
Eligibility
- Businesses, other organisations carrying out economic activities, associations and religious organisations can apply. Non-Austrian companies can qualify; the investment must be at a business site in Austria. Private individuals cannot apply. Projects already funded by agricultural or housing funding schemes are excluded.
- You must make the investment and be named on invoices as the invoice or service recipient. Leasing and contracting have exceptions to this requirement; the separate financing conditions below still apply.
- The general rules exclude project portions serving private use. For work on mixed residential and business buildings, more than 50% of the heated gross floor area must be used for business; smaller residential portions can then be included. Local heat supply has specific rules alongside the general exclusion of work on exclusively residential buildings. For this network grant, the supported expenditure is your connection assets along existing network routes; heat distribution inside customers’ buildings is excluded.
- Your project must add no more than 25 customers along existing pipe routes, using biomass, geothermal heat or industrial waste heat. Funded connection assets must belong to you. Equipment distributing heat inside the building, individual room controls, your own staff’s work and connections above 100 kW are excluded.
- Fossil fuel may supply at most 20% of the whole plant’s annual fuel energy, calculated using the lower heating value (the energy content excluding heat recovered from water vapour). Networks already registered in the qm-heizwerke heat-plant database must register the additional customers there.
- Local authorities qualify through a business carrying out market activities: it must cover more than 50% of its costs under the European System of Accounts, keep full accounts including assets and debts, and have substantial independence in its main decisions. If the status is doubtful, confirmation from the municipal supervisory authority is required.
- Agricultural projects must be outside the eligible scope of agricultural funding. Declare whether the measure concerns primary agricultural production; those projects follow agricultural de minimis rules. De minimis aid is small-value public support whose cumulative limit takes account of aid to your organisation and linked businesses. Declare earlier de minimis aid in the application.
- For leasing or hire purchase with application after completion, the user of the asset applies. The asset must either become yours or the contract term must match the required operating period. Payment of the grant is limited to payments you have actually made, excluding interest and fees.
- Follow Austrian public procurement rules if they apply to you. Operate the funded assets for at least ten years and allow checks, retaining supporting records for at least ten years from the award. Breaching the conditions can lead to repayment.
