Geothermal heating and cooling rebate
DSO Electric Cooperative customers can receive $125 per half-ton for qualifying geothermal heating and cooling installed at their home.
Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.
The Electric Heat Energy Efficiency Program encourages efficient heating and cooling. This entry covers its residential single-stage water-to-air geothermal route: a heat pump operating at one capacity and delivering heating or cooling through an indoor air heat-exchange coil.
The rebate is $125 for each half-ton of geothermal capacity. The certificate allows installations in new construction and replacements of electric or non-electric heating and cooling systems.
Eligibility
You must be a DSO member/customer, with the heat pump permanently installed at your home. DSO serves a nine-county area of Central Kansas, extending from Junction City to McPherson and from Glasco to Lost Springs, including Solomon and certain areas within Junction City. Eligibility depends on DSO service, rather than simply being in Kansas.
For the single-stage water-to-air route covered here, select equipment meeting both DSO’s published minimum ratings and the current ENERGY STAR criteria that DSO incorporates as those criteria rise. The current criteria require both of these ratings:
- Closed-loop systems: cooling energy efficiency ratio (EER) of at least 17.1 and heating coefficient of performance (COP) of at least 3.6. The heat-transfer fluid stays inside closed piping.
- Open-loop systems: EER of at least 21.1 and COP of at least 4.1. The heat-transfer fluid comes from a wider source such as groundwater.
EER measures cooling output relative to electricity used; COP measures heating output relative to electricity used. These current thresholds also satisfy DSO’s stated minimum ratings of EER 14.1/COP 3.3 for closed loops and EER 16.2/COP 3.6 for open loops.
The installation certificate verifies programme compliance and includes the cooperative representative and inspection date. If you previously received a KEPCo heat-pump rebate, state the reason for your current request. Rebates of $600 or more require a completed W-9 returned to DSO.

After installation, complete DSO’s online Heat Pump Rebate – Certification of Installation form, or download the Certificate of Installation from its rebate page. Provide the installation date, equipment and capacity/efficiency details, member account and installation address, and installer contact information for verification. The paper certificate also records the warranty term and cooperative inspection details.
Return the paper certificate by fax to 785-655-2805, marked “Attn: Rebate”, or mail it to DSO, P.O. Box 286, Solomon, KS 67480. Return a completed W-9 to DSO if the rebate is $600 or more.
