Private homeowners can receive €25 per m², up to €1,500, for a qualifying green roof on an existing home in Gilze en Rijen.
Ta możliwość jest obecnie dostępna po angielsku.
Klimaatbestendig Gilze en Rijen supports work that makes the local environment better able to cope with heavy rain, drought and heat. This entry covers its A1 green-roof option for private homeowners: a planted roof that stores at least 25 but less than 30 litres of water per m².
The grant covers the green-roof package and plants, installation and structural advice connected with installing the green roof. It does not cover installing or replacing roof covering, or structural alterations to the roof or building. Payment is €25 per m², capped at €1,500 for this option. Across the scheme, private applicants can receive at most €4,250 per cadastral parcel, with each measure funded only once.
Eligibility
- You must own the home, and the work must take place in the municipality of Gilze en Rijen. It must improve the existing situation for climate adaptation.
- The green roof must cover at least 5 m², store at least 25 but less than 30 litres of water per m², contain at least eight plant species and have a growing-medium layer at least 40 mm thick. The roof package must include a root-resistant layer, drainage layer, growing medium and drought-resistant vegetation.
- New-build projects are excluded. A home is also excluded if a building permit for construction work was granted after 1 January 2026.
- You cannot receive another award for a measure already funded under this scheme, or for a measure funded by a similar scheme in which the municipality is a co-funder. The municipality may also refuse activities already funded by another public body. You must have any necessary permits or exemptions.
- Complete the work within eight weeks after the grant is awarded and keep it intact and maintained for at least seven years. The municipality may revoke the award if the work is still unfinished six months after award. It may depart from the scheme’s time limits in special circumstances.

Apply before starting work. Allow at least eight weeks between submitting your application and starting the activities, under the municipality’s general subsidy rules. Use the municipal application form with DigiD, or send the ordinance’s Annex 2 form to duurzaamheid@abg.nl or Gemeente Gilze en Rijen, Postbus 73, 5120 AB RIJEN.
Describe the measure, address or cadastral parcel, installation method and planned timing. Include cost quotations, photographs and a description of the existing situation, and a description of the intended result. Declare any other subsidy or contribution requested. The general rules also require project goals, expected results, cost and income budgets, and an overview of any earmarked reserves or provisions; the municipality can limit these details when unnecessary.
Complete applications are considered in the order received. The annual scheme budget is €70,000; applications exceeding it are refused. The rules remain in force through 31 December 2027. Apply while funds remain.
After completing the work, fill in the settlement form required by the application declaration. For grants up to €5,000, the general rules provide an immediate advance equal to the award, followed by reconciliation at final settlement. The municipality can require evidence that the work and obligations were completed. Where it settles the grant on its own initiative, it normally does so within eight weeks after the work was due, or within eight weeks after requested information is supplied.
